    Pros

Awesome work life balance and social life - the best part is the people whom I have been working with too. Hopefully this doesn't change once we move offices!

    Cons

None that I can think of!

    Pros

I really wish that I could elaborate and come up with something, but I have nothing besides the fact that they have a new office.

    Cons

I really do not know where to start here. My experience was trash to put it lightly. Within a month, I could easily tell that this place was defined by dirty politics. Forget about the fact that the same management team is there subsequent to the sexual harassment lawsuit, it was so evident that they protected those who they personally liked at all costs, while others who weren't in their circle bared the... consequences. The platform itself isn't too bad, and it's a solid overview of the finance world, but that is completely eclipsed by the awful work environment that one might possibly endure if they aren't on the right side of management.

"This is not a journalism job."

    Pros

Business model kind of works, when compared to mainstream press

    Cons

This company finds desperate journalists who are unemployed and/or severely underpaid, pays them slightly more than a local newspaper or blog, and calls them “investigative reporters.” To any real reporter out there, considering this job because it seems more stable than a typical reporting job, I need you to understand: THIS IS NOT JOURNALISM. You will be cranking through calls to middle market CEOs and bankers,... bating them to tell you they’re going to buy or sell, even when they’re really not, and then writing aggressive leads and headlines saying that they will be. Why? Because this is a business development data tool for financial and legal advisors, and if you’re not helping the paying subscriber discover new M&A business, your article is worthless to the business. It will be killed by editors who’ll say it’s not “actionable” enough. Knowing this, with time, you’ll learn to stretch the truth to hit your weekly story quotas. Panicked CEOs will read your misleading stories and file complaints with legal, who just handles it. This is routine. The company is built on lying to reporters that they’ll be reporting; lying to CEOs that they’re getting interviewed about their business; and lying to subscribers that all the actionable leads they’re seeing are actually true. If you want stable or higher income, do PR or marketing. If you want to be a reporter, work for an actual media company, not a “business development information tool.”

I worked at Acuris Global full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pros: - decent exposure to the financial services industry and knowledge of business finance - Solid health insurance that kicks in from day 1 - relatively high salary depending on the market

    Cons

JOB DUTIES: Although this job will give you decent interviewing and research experience, it quickly turns into a position that feels more like an entry level sales job. Lots of cold calling required, and most interviews consist of pushing executives or bankers to give you favorable answers and then twisting those words to fit a narrative that creates business opportunities for clients. As of lately, there has been... an insane obsession with quotas, but because there's zero consistency in editorial standards, editors frequently kill stories at will with very little explanation, making it nearly impossible to meet performance expectations. MANAGEMENT: there are some truly terrible middle managers at Acuris who seem to struggle to even understand the basics of business finance yet are tasked with training and editing the work of younger, more talented reporters. There's also a huge culture of micro-management and suspicion: managers basically demand that employees "look" busy at all times instead of encouraging actual productivity. Different managers also all seem to have their own agenda and are more interested in looking good to upper management, so employees are frequently given conflicting demands that make it impossible to know what to prioritize. Acuris has an "unlimited sick leave" policy but depending on your manager, this is essentially equivalent to having no sick leave. Employees are routinely shamed and berated for taking days off in ways that bordered on harassment. There were also instances where employees who were sick and worked from home to stay on top of their (unreasonable) workload were accused of not "truly" being sick because they were able to send emails. Managers also set a terrible precedent by frequently coming into offices while ill and making everyone else sick. For many managers, this type of gaslighting extended way beyond sick leave: they would refuse to set clear workplace expectations around WFH, schedules, PTO and travel expenses and would use this lack of clarity to bully employees out of asking for any kind of leniency or even the basic tools and technology to do their jobs. Thanks to all of this, the work environment at Acuris is horrible, and employees are generally miserable. My advice to young job seekers: There are some great and competent managers sprinkled throughout the organization, but if you're getting bad impressions from the first or second interview, walk away. There are better environments to get a foothold in financial journalism where your skills will be valued and your dignity will be respected.

    Advice to Management

Decide whether you want to be a reputable financial publication or a lead-gen chop shop, but don't expect employees to produce quality work or feel motivated when your business model boils down to an article mill.

    Pros

Decent overview of the finance world.

    Cons

Everything else. This place really makes it obvious the little people do not matter...like when it comes to pay, micro managing and alot of dirty politics. Too bad because the job and work was fine, but seemed like daily you are unimportant if you don't play dirty too. When I left I could see how limited I was there and for the people who stayed a long time it was clear they didn't progress in their careers as they... could have somewhere else. Last thing the managers from their sexual harassment lawsuit are still there in the same roles.

    Pros

Small company means getting to know fellow coworkers easier

    Cons

Everything, management has no idea what they are doing. Company gets bought out & immediately fires 10 percent of employees. They also take all GNA roles off Acuris payroll & moves them to another company. Management has gone to crap.

Do better. Care about the little guys. Promote faster.

    Pros

    • Relaxed dress code. • Seasonal company parties. • Decent for entry level.

    Cons

    • Hard to move up within the company unless someone leaves. • Work can be dull and repetitive. • Doesn't have much of a "culture," if at all. • Pay is below-market, especially with hours being 9am-6pm.

    Advice to Management

Create more opportunities for entry-level employees to move up and increase salary to retain talent.
