I have been working at Adaptive Business Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

ABG gives a lot of training, it is easy to keep up with the learning and after just a few short weeks you'll be better at the job than you thought you would be.

    Cons

Environment is incredibly fast paced and there is a lot of personal onus to meet your quota and targets. If you can't keep up, you probably won't enjoy it.

I worked at Adaptive Business Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Uncapped earnings, achievable targets, positive people

    Cons

There's a fairly low bar of expectations, which makes the business mediocre. Their top biller ever did $400k in sales in 1 year, when most agencies have people billing close to $1 million. Though you can make $100k pretty quickly, no one really makes much more than that. Most of their senior staff have left the business in recent years, which says a lot about what the reward would be for making it to the top. Heavy drinking culture. Lots of turnover. Even when things are going well there, it's just a meh place to work.

    Adaptive Business Group Response

    March 20, 2020Global HR Director

Good afternoon, As always, thank you so much for your feedback. Regarding your “pros” you are absolutely right. Having “uncapped earnings” and “achievable earnings” in a business that grows 36% year on year is quite impressive and we are very proud to share Adaptive’s wins as they are our wins. Moving onto your “cons” – we have numerous people in their twenties building teams which now have million dollar plus targets, expectations quite frankly are huge. Having said this, we respect if you didn’t find this challenging enough. This might be the reason why no manager has ever decided to leave the business. We’ve had one senior manager leaving the business in the last 3 years and it was very much a mutual decision. Your comment: “their top biller ever did sales of $400k when most agencies have people billing $1million +”. This is incorrect, but its OK, let me explain. Within permanent recruitment across digital, SaaS sales and Globalization, with the fees we charge and positions we work on that $1million biller would have to be closing 60 placements per annum. We believe you might be confused in making comparisons between permanent/contract recruitment and recruitment markets generally. A “Heavy drinking culture…” We don’t believe colleagues/friends going to a pub is a heavy drinking culture but I’m afraid we do enjoy spending time together with a nice drink and having a lovely chat. We understand this might not be for you and absolutely respect it. Regarding “Lots of turnover” – again, another mistake unless you’re referring to revenue? If so, yes, guilty because in terms of staff turnover, 10% on average annually… that’s pretty standard isn’t it? And lastly, “stop putting up with average sales results” – do you mean, stop supporting, coaching and helping those who are struggling to make them better? I’m afraid this is what we do, we look after our team and not doing so, that might actually “increase turnover” don’t you think? Anyway, thank you so much for your comments. It made us look into what we do and how we do it and feel positive about the way we are and what we’ve achieved. We hope you find a place that meets your expectations and are very happy and successful wherever you go. Best, Adaptive

    Pros

This job sounds like a dream on paper. International travel between four locations (airmiles), uncapped commission structure, quick career advancement, lots of social events.... And if you like a sales driven environment, you will do well - very KPI driven.

    Cons

For all these pros, there is an oddly high amount of turnover. I’ve watched 15+ people leave for various reasons. A few of these reasons include: -lack of basic training and expectations -commission structure and airmiles program being unclear -managers and employees in certain offices getting too buddy-buddy resulting in favoritism -extreme inconsistency - most often applying the Wiki rules in certain circumstances yet forgetting about them in when it is convenient (this affects protocol, commissions, deals, etc) -action from upper management is reactionary instead of proactive

    Adaptive Business Group Response

Good afternoon, First of all thank you so much for your review, we take all feedback very seriously. All the benefits you named above are some of the many perks and benefits we offer here at Adaptive. As part of a sales/business role, there are KPI’s to be achieved in order to unlock extra benefits which in this case are just add-ons to our competitive salaries and as you said, uncapped commissions. Our biggest satisfaction and sense of achievement is to see our employees accomplish their professional, personal and certainly financial goals at the same time we all grow our business together. If you are a current employee, please do reach out and as always, we’ll listen and work together to find the best solution. Our wiki was discontinued 12 months ago so maybe you ticked the “current employee” box by mistake? If this is the case, then we hope your time at Adaptive took you one step closer to your happiness and success. We do wish you all the very best and will always be thankful for your feedback.

I worked at Adaptive Business Group full-time

    Pros

good work life balance, okay benefits, good people (have fired all the bad)

    Cons

low base salary. it's a sales job, so you're expected to get majority of salary from commission. However NYC is an expensive place to live and when you're not doing well sales-wise, your finances suffer. At the end of the day this is a sales job. You're not going to be using your college degree much, you just need to be a good person. If you don't do well in a quota-environment, don't go into recruiting. If you enjoy that competition, adaptive is a good place to start your career.

I have been working at Adaptive Business Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I would highly recommend Adaptive Business Group whether you're fresh out of college or looking for a next step in your career. The employees here are all very welcoming and are always working hard and playing hard together. (This is not one of those companies that look down on you for not joining their social events - they are optional). Management is very supportive and closely works with all team members to make sure they are achieving what they want to achieve. Your sales skills, business acumen, and time management skills will definitely improve immensely. EXTRA PERKS - You get an hour and a half for lunch time (this gives me time to go to the gym daily - which is huge for me) You get to work from home couple times a month. You get gifts for even the smallest of achievements (they love rewarding employees for doing a good job)

    Cons

The only downside is that with all the competitions going on in the company from (Top Biller to Most Steps in a month 'calculated through fitbits' )... there's no (Highest Bench Press) competition. Sometimes I wonder why I train so hard haha

I have been working at Adaptive Business Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Being able to work in an energizing and challenging environment. The company consists of like-minded, career oriented people with entrepreneurial spirits. It is hugely motivational to be able to see my own performance results as well as my teams performance metrics on a daily basis. Being able to work towards a personal goal as well as a team and company goal has made my job at Adaptive twice as exciting. The people I work with are willing to help at any time and I have never felt alone in my role. The company invests time and money into each consultant. The on-boarding process is extremely detailed and insightful. I learned so much information in my first week here, and it has all been useful to me on a daily basis in my role. The team is very understanding and helpful, I have never felt stupid for asking questions here. There is huge growth opportunity based on personal performance. Promotions are not based on time in the company, they are solely dependent on the person. Working at Adaptive has been an absolute pleasure and I do not have enough positive things to say about my experience here. I look forward to working here for a long time and helping grow the business.

    Cons

No cons about the company whatsoever. Recruitment can be a bit of a struggle in the beginning in terms of developing a network, however, the team at Adaptive is so motivational and seeing their success is reassuring. Once I built up my network everything fell into place and it became a much more stimulating role.

I have been working at Adaptive Business Group full-time

    Pros

There are so many great things about working at Adaptive. Here are some of the top highlights that I have come up with: -Great company culture -Lot's of fun activities which include athletic events, happy hours, group classes, outdoor events, volunteer opportunities, etc.. -Great incentives for reaching goals which include office breakfasts, and company vacations -Air miles. You can earn air miles and travel to any of our offices worldwide to work -A fast paced environment with lots of room for growth and advancement -CEO and upper management are very accessible and listen to and implement new ideas -Work from home opportunities -Great coworkers who are all willing to help

    Cons

While every company is going to have room for improvement, I would say some of my cons feel a little bit like a stretch, but I also want to be realistic. Being a growing company, there are still somethings that can be fixed. Some cons would include: -It is a sales type environment and sometimes the pressure can build on you. But some people like that pressure, so that may not be a con -You set a lot of your own schedule, so it may be difficult to understand how to structure your time at first. But there are plenty of people to help you -Sometimes things can come off as disorganized, but that is part of a growing company. The great thing about that is if you see something that needs to be fixed, you can suggest/create a solution and have that approved by the upper management

    Pros

Top management is directly involved and engaged in your success as an individual consultant. You are given a vast amount of autonomy to develop and grow your own client base and increase your business. There is a very clear promotion structure with tangible goals that allows for easy growth internally. Great company culture!

    Cons

Recruitment is a very KPI driven business. Your success as a consultant will depend on how well you manage your priorities and time. At first this can be overwhelming and stressful, but don't be afraid to ask for help, everyone has been through the same thing and management is there to ensure your success.

I worked at Adaptive Business Group

    Pros

Adaptive provides a supportive and innovative culture that allows each employee to be successful. They encourage growth and are always pushing themselves to grow as a company. They offer great incentive trips and a lucrative commission structure. The management is open to hearing suggestions and truly listens to every employee. They invest in every employee's career and provide growth opportunities at every level.

    Cons

Although not an end all be all, Adaptive cares about KPIs. This can be stressful and a turn off to some but it motivates others. My advice to you is know yourself and know what will motivate you also don't be afraid to ask for help!
