I worked at Adecco USA as a contractor

    Pros

Adecco is a wonderful place to learn the recruiting/staffing industry from the ground floor. Since Adecco handles a wide variety of jobs, there's an opportunity to gain experience recruiting for different industries including fashion/creative. I really appreciated also handling everything from temp to contract to perm roles. The colleagues in my office were great about answering any questions and investing in my professional development!

    Cons

Some of the business practices and software need to be upgraded to stay competitive with other companies.

I worked at Adecco USA as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of travel, networking possibilities, free hotel stays, occasional meal Per Diem, Team environment

    Cons

-No opportunities for advancement beyond Team lead
-Micromanaging has gotten worse over time
-Management is not organized which causes operational friction to trickle down onto the field teams.
-The inability and opportunity to work for Google full-time through this job was conveyed and instilled from the beginning of training; us contractors were reminded that this job does not mean you will get your shoe in the door to a permanent position @ Google, which is not something you should tell your employees, as it's discouraging.
-Contract ended way ahead of time due to outsourcing project to a new company which caused current employees to make last minute decisions on employment continuation or face termination.
-Job takes almost all of your personal time; gone Monday morning, returning Friday night on most occasions and is repetitious in nature.
-Operations are sometimes risky in nature (we can leave that up to interpretation)
-If your team relations are not good, you will not enjoy this project because you will spend 80% of your time with them and have them as roommates. Fortunately, my team members were compatible

    Advice to Management

Instill more faith and trust in your employees, especially if work is being conducted according to policy and work outputs are high.

    Pros

Young and friendly staff. Nice and visible senior leadership. Summer Fridays. Interesting jobs to work on with great clients.

    Cons

Low pay. Different managers have very different expectations. Some cattiness and favoritism. Lots of staff turnover because of this.

  10. "Uncertainty - Meville Location (formerly Corporate HQ)"

    StarStarStarStarStar
Former Employee - IT Employee in Melville, NY
Former Employee - IT Employee in Melville, NY

    Pros

I was a former employee with the IT department over 10 years. It was a good company when I first started, worked with some nice people along the way.

    Cons

But then later on Adecco outsourced different areas of IT to India and I was let go. Along with many others. On top of that they relocated the Corporate Headquarters to Jacksonville, Florida. So then people in the business areas were also being laid off. Then the building was sold and Adecco leased back a smaller space from the new owner. But they continue to hire new people unaware of what transpired. So everyone waits to hear what is being announced at the quarterly town hall meetings if any departments will be relocated or the Melville office will close permanently. So if you are considering a position in the Melville location beware.
