I worked at Adhesives Research full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good technology and very good operations. They are not afraid to invest in infrastructure to improve manufacturing capabilities. Salaries are average to above average.

    Cons

Horrible management. Extremely high turnover. Salesman treated like disposable commodities. The company recruits bright young talent in all areas but has no idea how to keep them.

    Advice to Management

Technical people should stay in the lab, not run sales.

    Pros

Used to be a good company, but fell prey to it's blood sucking chairman.

    Cons

Horrible management, narrow vision, selfish Chairman is draining the last drops of blood from the company!!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the clorox salesman mentality.

I worked at Adhesives Research full-time

    Pros

A lot of good people who work very hard. Good exposure to the pharmaceutical industry.

    Cons

The hours are one of the worst parts of working here. Expect to work 50-70 hours weekly and be on call. There will be no additional pay as a result of this. Your contributions to success will benefit those who make more than you. Engineers and many of the staff work longer hours than management.

The company is small and has several compliance deficiencies related to the pharmaceutical industry. It also lacks any meaningful competitive advantage- they have no IP, have limited process capabilities, their computer systems are arcane and not Part 11 compliant.

Management and senior level individuals are, collectively, obtuse and prone to embarrassing lapse in judgement. Those that are hired for management or director level positions routinely came in with enough years worked to meet the requirement of their positions, however they do not demonstrate any beneficial experience nor any strategic foresight. In addition, those that are promoted to management positions have benefited from nepotistic relationships with other managers. In addition, several managers have a proclivity to make their employees feel uncomfortable by making lewd, offensive and/or insinuating comments. To summarize, one of the biggest flaws with this company are the people at the top.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let competency replace you.

Company worked as a team. Company gave profit sharing bonus ranging from 1-15% base salary. Quality management was very comforting and invited forward thinking and independent decisions of workers.

    Cons

Management was slow to change or improve processes. Management micromanaged workers. Outdated and non user friendly ERP and computer system.

    Pros

Some really great individuals with great opportunity in the business model

    Cons

Executive leadership is focused on monthly numbers and not long term relationships for accounts that take multiple year horizons

    Advice to Management

Please get a new CEO and focus on long-term growth and not monthly numbers. Invest in further development of technologies and scientists to develop those areas.

I worked at Adhesives Research full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I learned many valuable skills and analytical techniques while working at Adhesives Research. I really enjoyed the work that I did, and had a sense of satisfaction when I was able to help solve problems. There is some room for advancement. It was great working with so many talented people, especially within the R&D and engineering departments.

    Cons

The company significantly reduced spending in the recent years, which made it very difficult to keep skills current, since requests to attend classes or seminars were often rejected. Also, management has a tendency to micro-manage, and they also enforced long working hours, even when it was not necessary.

    Advice to Management

There are many talented, dedicated employees working for you. Trust your employees, and welcome their feedback. It is not necessary to micro-manage.

    Pros

Good facilities, beautiful location, great people to work with. Excellent benefits and a strong desire to promote communication and cooperation between departments

    Cons

At the time I was there the company was understaffed. this led to mandatory overtime which created a general feeling of angst and resentment among the employees

    Advice to Management

At the time I was there the management seemed disconnected from the people who worked for them. Since that time there has been a new President who I know to be a competent and caring

    Pros

Traveled around the country as I was in sales. Learned what I do not want out of future employers.

    Cons

Traveled around the country as I was in sales. Travel expectations/requirements were severely understated in the hiring process. The company is stuck in the 1980's. Management rules through fear.

    Advice to Management

Wake up, it is 2015! Clients do not expect someone in a suit and tie to sell them splicing tape.
