Your lifestyle and day to day experiences is dependent on your department and direct manager. You can have a terrible experience if you are unlucky. Analyze your potential manager and department carefully.

Cons
Too much nepotism within teams in hiring employees from their previous companies. I know a case where my manager referred his friend in a parallel team and then one year after moved him under his own team. Later he promoted the fellow and also gave stock options while people slogging hard from years were just sidelined. This happened in Noida 25 A office. HR has no role to play. Your manager is considered as your god and empowered to make or break your career. I have seen appraisals as low as 3-4%, even when company is doing wonders, just because you don't please your manager.
