I have been working at Adolescent Growth full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The staff, the rules, the great locations, the great program that the clients are offered, structure

    Cons

The pay is not the best but it is gratifying work, sometimes the hours are not so great, the staff who do this for money are in it for the wrong reasons

    Advice to Management

Make sure this is the job you want because everyone works hard and deserves praise. The thing is you have to want this job because the clients can be a challenge however, no day will ever be the same and it creates a great overall experience!

I worked at Adolescent Growth full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The only pros are positive employees who truly care for clients.

    Cons

The owners only care for money (as they take more than $1,000) per client per day and provide very minimal care. Upper management constantly micromanages everything and engage in unethical behavior such as recording employee conversation at the corporate office WITHOUT employee CONSENT! Owners don’t care for anything other than monetary gain and will place the blame on employees when in reality they make the... mistakes. They don’t care about their employees at all and will step on employees to gain more money. They continue with client intake even when they know the clients insurance will not pay for full 60-90 stay. They milk from insurance companies as much as they can without informing clients that their insurance may not fully cover. They accept clients based on false hope and evict (due to insurance not covering) client without notice. They prefer clients who pay cash and treat such clients much better than clients who present with insurance. They do not provide enough food at the facility. Although they say there’s 12 step, they read material unrelated to 12 step and lie in documentation. They lie to parents stating clients are doing great and are being treated well when clients are actually complaining of not being treated well. Again, these people are money hungry, unethical people and no client deserves to be treated as poorly as they treat clients and staff. They’ve also rebranded several times due to having such negative reviews!! Be aware folks! That is all!

I worked at Adolescent Growth full-time for less than a year

    Pros

With help from the therapists and floor staff the children get better.

    Cons

Management is horrible! They are greedy and unethical. There is zero work/life balance and the benefits are garbage and don’t meet industry standard. These 5 star reviews are all written by management to try to up their rating. Don’t be fooled and don’t work here.

    Advice to Management

Close your doors. You are corrupt and greedy people. These employees, children and families deserve so much better.

I worked at Adolescent Growth full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great program structure for the clients and their families. Coworkers can be supportive and helpful in working with the clients.

    Cons

All positions are underpaid, even if you have years of experience. Management positions are a revolving door, which has continued the lack of communication and effectiveness of leading the programs. The leadership is inconsistent which also leads to employee turnover, poor morale, and dissatisfaction with the company.

    Advice to Management

Show appreciation to employees for their hard work in keeping the programs up and running and providing great work with the clients.

I worked at Adolescent Growth full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Mostly anyone who works there is nice and efficient. You will have some nice co-workers.

    Cons

UHH where Do I begin? First of all, there are MULTIPLE locations for the facilities. If you interview for the LA location, most likely they will move you to another location hours away, hence creating the problem of commuting. How is it fair for someone to interview for one place end up on the other side of LA? There is no accommodating and you are FORCED to drive a long distance if you are scheduled. Now when... they do move you to a different facility, they tell you just a day before. So unprofessional. I remember I would always work overtime because the work would pile up on me- I did not even take any breaks! This place will drown you with doing papers and other kinds of documenting. The corporate people are NEVER happy with your notes! They send it back to you in a condescending manner and tell you to correct it giving only a short deadline! They do not care about clients or their well-being, they ONLY care about the therapists completing the notes for insurance billing!! Pathetic!

    Advice to Management

Paying minimum wage to a therapist who is the reason how your company gets money in the first place, is not such a good idea. Since your Therapist turnover rate is abnormally high, you might want to consider what you are doing wrong. No therapist=no one there to do notes for billing= no money for the company. Stop being cheap!

    I worked at Adolescent Growth

    Pros

There are nice cats and nice supervisors. You can work a couple months without the harrassment starting.

    Cons

HR will change your job title without asking. Also the staff watching over the kids are patronizing and condescending. They laugh at the kids in their faces and call it 'glorifying drug use' if they talk about their past addictions.

I worked at Adolescent Growth for more than a year

    Pros

The very few pros are that a lot of the staff are very compassionate and caring towards the clients and other staff members. The house is well decorated and offers a comforting environment.

    Cons

It’s difficult know where to begin with this place. They lie about benefits in online job postings. You are not eligible for benefits like vacation time until after you’ve been working for six months and are not eligible to start a 401K until you’ve been there a year, and good luck making it past the six months. You will be worked to the bone with absolutely zero reward. You’re expected to pick up shifts for... employees who don’t show up or get fired/quit on the spot, which happened frequently when I was there. Turnover rates are appalling, by the time I quit they had gone through two program managers and multiple medical assistants and floor staff. They have unqualified people in positions. They never had a nurse administering medications but rather a woman from human resources and medical assistants even though it’s required to have an LPN administering medications. Anyone who raises any concerns about how the place is managed gets fired. I was asked to essentially spy on a new employee and report directly back to the owners about her attitude. There is never enough food in the house and they don’t have qualified people cooking for them and organizing meals. They blame this on the clients being “picky” even though many of them eat everything that is given to them and they still complain about hunger. In my time there, multiple former employees have had to call DCFS because of the food issue but also due to poor supervision. They continually break the 3 clients to 1 staff ratio, often times having one staff member for upwards of six or seven clients. I’ve personally been with 4 clients by myself on group outings with no other support. Supervision is also so poor that clients are able to sneak off and engage in physical activity with one another. There was also one report of a male staff member walking in on a female client while she was changing. Some of the other floor staff are poorly trained and treat the clients as if they are inmates. They’ve been disrespectful and patronizing towards clients, not allowing them to laugh and talk with one another. Any time clients talk about their experiences, they’re accused of “glorifying drug use”. Literally during a therapy group on addiction, clients were told to stop talking about drugs. Clients’ religious beliefs are also routinely criticized. This is a Christian based program, but clients are told at the beginning that the therapy itself isn’t Christian and they are not required to participate in church services but can rather work on 12 step work or other therapy related activities. Staff regularly made clients sit in the pews, even after one client disclosed that due to invalidation she received from past church members that religion is a huge trigger for her. Another client had his Buddhist religious beliefs mocked and wasn’t allowed to display his Buddha image in a public place. The owners seem so sweet and welcoming but lie through their teeth to you. They make HR and other management in California do all of their dirty work so they constantly look like the good guys. They’ll tell you one thing directly, and then HR will tell you something completely different and you’re blamed for it. Direction is horrible here, and management will make you feel absolutely useless. They don’t care about supporting their employees, they just need bodies in their facilities. I’ve never worked so much for so little in my life, and I wouldn’t wish this facility on any future employee. They’ve also tried to illegally seek legal action against multiple former employees for various issues. I can’t say to anyone enough – stay away from this place. You’ll end up either fired or quitting feeling terrible about yourself, but also for the poor clients who live there. They’re willing to throw good, hardworking employees under the bus in order to save face.

    Pros

Literally nothing. I still have nightmares from working here. Notice every 5 star review (written clearly by the owners) always immediately is posted after the truthful negative reviews...this is a taste of the shadiness that occurs at this place

    Cons

Run just run. Do not take this job because you are desperate. Go work literally anywhere else. I do not wish this place on my worst enemy.

    Advice to Management

Close your doors. You people are horrible. Jesus does not forgive your premeditated illegal, harmful, and unethical behavior. You know what you're doing is wrong.
