I worked at Advance Auto Parts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great coworkers
    building relationships with shops
    Great learning experience

    Cons

    No work life balance
Low pay for the amount of work and hours
Inability to pay employees more to retain talent
    Unacheivable sales goals
Toxic culture within a struggling industry
Hours available to schedule team members constantly decreasing
Health insurance is expensive and the vision coverage is atrocious.
Parts catalog and store system is outdated, computers constantly crash and don’t hold on to warranty info after 3 years. “Lifetime warranty” is essentially void.

    Advice to Management

Allow GMs to pay employees what they’re worth, you can’t retain talent for 8.25 an hour! Only allowing part time hires that may work 4-15 hours a week is ridiculous. GMs should be able to have more support within the store, sales goals need to be adjusted to reflect current market struggles, and take into consideration competition from online retailers.
Offer a better discount to employees, with online ordering a aibalble now the customers get same or better discounts than employees.
Update tech in stores and get the warranty system into the 21st century.

    Advice to Management

Lower prices, give more hours to stores so the customers service experience improves not declines.

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunities are there to take. Vast parts Knowledge. Great leadership at district level. Biggest automotive parts retailer in the world

    Cons

Retail customers are some times difficult to deal with. Company always changing and only few times to good. Poor in man power, offer services that can't deliver.

    Advice to Management

Stability is important. The team is important, a store with a solid team will deliver the best service and result to an increase in sales and most important, reputation. A store without a solid team will never deliver in any way.
