I have been working at Advance Auto Parts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some good times, company will send you on a trip for training or such every once in awhile. The discount is ok.

    Cons

Policies are in place and you can get in trouble for following the policy to the letter. I have been introuble for following company policy, yet they set these guidelines in place so it makes it confusing, and most of the time no matter what the policy says the customer is right.

    Pros

Great place to work, flexible scheduling and great team of individuals to work with. Upper management gives General managers a great deal of autonomy to make good business decisions

    Cons

Minimal labor hours. Work load is generally high with few workers to execute in a timely manner. No formal automobile systems training

    Advice to Management

Increase labor hours to get more sales

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice salary wage, good benefits, good bonus potentially. Good hours compared to most management careers. I enjoy working there a lot

    Cons

Turnover is real, leadership is key if you want to succeed. Other than that it's not a bad place to work

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The stores keep you busy all day & night. Never a dull moment

    Cons

So much to accomplish with so little help as store payroll hours depend on sales . You rarely get to go to lunch, you work many times open until close, over time while you are on salary is the normal and is expected & required 60 plus plus hours a week!

    Advice to Management

Give more hours to stores. 265 hours a week to run a store 15 hours a day is crazy!

I have been working at Advance Auto Parts full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I love my job. I have worked my way up the ladder, starting from the bottom and working my way up. If you are a good hard working employee they will take care of you.

    Cons

Wish it didn't take so long to move up and wish it paid a little bit more.

    Pros

Customers are fun. Cars and car parts

    Cons

District managers are not in touch with what happens on a daily basis in the store. Conference calls during the busiest part of the day.

    Advice to Management

District managers should be in the store and not in their cars at a gas station. They say they work, but hands free and drive. I see my DM in his purple car in places he shouldn't be all the time.

    Pros

A growing company with many paths to move up the corporate ladder. As the store manager you truly are managing your own business segments. Your strongest assets will be the team you build and surround yourself with.

    Cons

As a growing company it will undergo many changes while securing it's footprint and expanding. This can be very difficult for an array of employees causing disruptions within operations. It is Retail lifestyle in a store that typically close only two days a year. Ensuring you have the right people on your team is crucial.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to your roots, stay the course, and dominate. Morale is the biggest motivator to keep the teams at peak production. Continue to invest in training and expand your GM Leadership to include all management to build the bench and quality of production in the stores.

    Pros

It's a big company always hiring

    Cons

Very poor benefits, they show no appreciation to employees they make it very clear it's all about the dollar and lies to make stock holders happy

    Advice to Management

Act like you care about employees stop cutting benefits every year, maybe Mail a Christmas Card or something rather than just yell and complain and set unrealistic goals

    Pros

Great leadership, they provide constant training to all team members. Achievable bonus incentives. It's a great experience for those just getting in to management.

    Cons

Must work 55+ hours a week to be successful. The biggest drawback is that you sacrifice most of your personal life with working most holidays and taking off days in the middle of the week.
