    Pros

It can be fun if you don't take it too seriously. You can potentially learn a lot about all different kinds of cars. If you're young apply for the normal sales job. It can be a lot of fun. Computer system is fool proof and checkouts are easy. The most work you would doing working at a store is unloading the truck with all the behind the counter parts and on the floor items once a week.

    Cons

if you show any intelligence they will promote you and take advantage of you as much as they can. You'll soon be doing manager work for slave pay.

    Advice to Management

Do not spread store staff thin and over work them. Hire competent district managers who actually know what to do in a situation.

    Cons

    Pros

Your ability to meet new people who enjoy the same things you do.
I cant think of anything else positive about this company.

    Cons

    Hours are horrible
    They dont care about you
Dont expect any raises if you are in management. They will tell you, well, we bring in new RPPs at $18,000 a year and you make alittle more then that, so you dont get a raise.

    Advice to Management

Get your thumbs out of your asses and recognize talent! You guys are to worried about your pockets and not your employees and you will never run a successful company

    Pros

Good benefits. Store Managers were amazingly dedicated and hard working.

    Cons

    Poor leadership.
This company is way behind the competitors in every category and yet believes it is out front. The amount of money spent on Commercial Programs resulted in a paltry sales number that could have been achieved for significantly less. The Corporate staff was incredibly large and growing daily which means that they each had to justify their existence. This created a workload for the stores that is not possible to complete. Most new programs were only followed until the "newest" next program was rolled out. Nowhere in this company does anyone have the guts to question any of these programs and the impact on the stores. Regional Management cannot think outisde the box. If a directive came down saying the Earth was flat, we threw out the globes. Store systems are circa 1990's. Several hours daily were spent fixing issues with it or waiting for someone at the Call Center in India to respond to your issue.

    Advice to Management

Fix the systems. Focus on the store teams and how to improve their lives and you may improve the performance. In the last three years, I have yet to find one Team Member who feels that any of the initiatives rolled out has helped them or their stores. Of course, anyone who says otherwise is considered a bad apple. This company takes a very negative posture towards anyone who questions or criticizes their plan. They will find a way to get rid of you even if they have to make it up. At-Will employment is their friend.

    Pros

The employees at store level are great for the most part

    Cons

If you didn't get a good salary coming in the door you will never make decent money
They do not promote from within
The DM and RM could not run a successful store. The upper managers think they are Gods gifts to retail parts sales. They can't even use the computers in the store correctly.
Way to much change week to week, instead of trying to make more sales the store staff is tasked with moving stuff just to do it, the POG will changew next week anyway.
CDL is a joke. Managers are mandated to work a minimum of 50 hours and weekends. If you work in an at will state you wil work many more hours than that.
Useless acronyms coming out every week, and God help you if you don't know what it stands for.
Retail hours, only have 2 HOLIDAYS that the store is closed.
Upper management has no clue what is happening at store levels, all they see is numbers
And speaking of numbers that is all the employees are to management
They activlely employe people that have quit or been fired many times. Then when they are rehired they get promoted to mangement positions.
Now cutting payroll again for the umpteenth time in 2 years. In most stores there will be just 2 people working at any given time.
No lunch breaks, and when you do get to have lunch it is eaten at the counter while you are waiting on customers.
DM never visits his stores, and when he does he poo poo's everthing im the store then leaves a long list of stuff to do then never follows up to see if it was done. SEAGULL MANAGER
Lack of communication at all levels of managment

    Advice to Management

Listen to your General Managers. We are the ones making the money for this company, and you treat all of us like s^%$. Just look at the corp magazie when it comes out, 2 pages of GM promotions and maybe 1 or 2 DM's.
Upgrade the IT in stores, the computer system is a joke.

    Cons

If you seen the movie Deliverance with Burt Raynolds, Then you know what is like working at Advance Auto parts in Ocala, Florida. The only thing they need to do is to screw us from behind.

when needing to take a loa, I had no problem at one point. At first I was treated like the team, I loved working for advance auto.

    Cons

No raises, No promotions, disrespectful crew memebers, very unprofessional,

    Advice to Management

Need to push the associates to be more to customers and stay off cell phones. dress more appropriatley and in correct uniform when working. talk to your associates in the office in private and keep it more one on one than letting the whole crew know their business.

    Pros

It's a pay check. You get a discount on the parts you purchase from there. The customers are great.

    Cons

Lack of recognition from upper management on the postive changes made in the store. Alot of favoritism from upper management. Some get overlooked for promotions even though they are more than able to perform. Some employees are eager to "stab you in the back" to make themselves look good. Store manager likes to lean on the counter, takes multiple smoke breaks, takes personal cell phone calls while on the sales floor, and he doesn't contribute that much to the business.

    Advice to Management

When you require a panel interview for team members to become a store manager...perhaps you should actually do one before you place one of the commercial sales managers brothers in that position. Do what you say you are going to do. Hold you store managers accountable. And get rid of the favoritism.

    Cons

You will not be successful working for advance unless you are willing to be talked to like a child. I have never worked in a more poorly managed environment! They have part time employees working 39 hours a week and full time up to 50.... Is that balance? or is that a manager taking advantage of good people that need a job

    Advice to Management

Don't have your employees do your job for you...
