    I have been working at Advance Auto Parts part-time

    Pros

    GM and below in the individual stores seem pretty decent. Proper training and the time to do it would help with turnover rate, along with better pay. Subway, Wal-mart , Wing Stop, all start out at a higher pay rate.

    Cons

    In my area, Advance starts employees at $8.50 an hour, which probably is the lowest pay of any retail store in my area. No time to really train/watch videos. DM's are either really good or really bad. No consistency in management and corporate seems to keep stores in the dark about what is going on. This company is not a career oriented company. It appears that the longest span of employment is about 10 years before employees either get feed up or see the company for what they really are.

    Advice to Management

    Why do you take commercial accounts away from profit-making stores along with their vehicle and yet make them keep their corporate sales goal, really? WTF? Need to go back to your roots and start caring about the people who work for you, not just profits for the CEO and board of directors, because that's how it looks to your employees.

    treat the workers the same share more information with all workers not just certain ones and there was no pay raise for 2017 probably not for 2018

    Pay was good. Bonuses were ok when you hit them. Could be higher bonus pay out.
    overall not bad.

    Cons

    Hard to hire team members at $9/hr. Also, not a good idea to have those same $9/hr team members installing batteries in peoples cars as a free service without any additional pay. Especially in the cold, winter conditions.

    Advice to Management

    Need to give those employees who install batteries an additional "Spiff" pay on their paycheck for every battery they install.

    Pros

    Helping people make good diagnosis about there vehicles so they weren’t replacing the wrong parts and eliminating the guess work. Making eye contact and building good customer relations

    Cons

    Not enough staff working during busiest hours of the day and to many managers on the phone or staying in the restrooms on the phone instead of taking care of customers. Too many clicks in the store and trying to get rid of the new people that they had personal problems with that had nothing to do with job performance

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees with the same respect as you expect. Don’t try to embarrass or belittle your staff when you are supposed to be there to help them

    Pros

    none, but it is an easy job

    Cons

    low pay at 10 dollars an hour you could make better money at McDonald's. They Pick at every penny and are very cheap. Better be able to speak Spanish, tons of Mexicans all over the place. They monitor your every move inside and outside the delivery vehicle. No cell phones or navigation allowed.

    Pay More --a lot more
