I worked at Advantech full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not much to say other than great perks here and there with so many restrictions whether you get it or not.

    Cons

Horrible management and leadership style from the top down. Their top management is equivalent to other company’s team lead’s knowledge. They all think they are right even they are not. Never listen to their employees. Treat your employees with respect. Too many finger pointing when issues occur. Many managers don't know what they are doing since they got assigned to the roles that they have no experience what so ever.

No development. No training. Negotiate to the dime (Cheap!!). Willing to violate local/state law just to save couple hundred bucks

Pay little and expect an ocean from you

    Quote from upper management
"Don't treat them too well, they will take advantage of you"

"I will cut your XXX budget if employees challenge my guideline"

"employees who resign is a bad employee. Don't keep them"

"employees shouldn't stand around and talk- not even 5 mins-, they need to work at all time"

"Don't trust anyone, they are all liars and don't know anything"

    Advice to Management

Take some management training and learn how to manage your employees so your company could growth. Replace all upper management in American region if you want your company culture to change.

I have been working at Advantech full-time

    Pros

Good benefits. Bi-monthly breakfast, quarterly events, simi-annual bonus.

Stable company - Management will reward hardworking individual (Was a skeptic in past years, but was pleasantly surprised this time around).

    Great people

    Cons

Compensation is below Silicon Valley average.

Policies could be a bit more transparent.

    Advice to Management

    Adjust compensation strategies. Respect Employees.

    Pros

If you're willing to put up with all of their shortcomings (too many to list here), then you can stay forever. 130 hours of PTO per year, family trip, Christmas party, quarterly events.

    Cons

Their compensation plan falls well short of the industry average, especially for Silicon Valley. For an ISE, their starting salary is around $56K + a paltry 1.5% commission if you meet their absurd $1.5M quotas. The entire organization is run by Chinese women who can be very hostile towards white American males. They absolutely prefer to hire Asians, any type of Asian (Chinese, Vietnamese, Philippine, Korean... as long as you're not white.
Their NPI is horrible. They introduce products when there are no manuals, optional accessories or even simple things like power supplies, Flash storage modules or memory available for months.

    Advice to Management

Bring in some experienced male management and stop discriminating against whites. Improve your NPI procedures.

I worked at Advantech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a very stable company, and somewhere you can choose to stay for decades and decades, as some of the employees have chosen to do. The company is very conservative and because of this, has not had any layoffs or problems. Little bonuses are given every quarter if the company profits, holiday parties and office events held frequently.

    Cons

Because they are conservative, the pay is below market price. Benefits are not that great and are very expensive. 401k funds aren't high-performing. Office politics is high and the company works like small companies fighting with each other, rather than one team together. Employee dynamics aren't that great since many don't speak English - communication is a huge problem. Hiring is questionable. Micro-management style is apparent throughout the company.

    Advice to Management

Spoil your employees a little, they work hard!
