I worked at Advantest full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

company match program, good people at middle level

    Cons

Leadership is tied to no performance, zero personal growth discussions

    Advice to Management

Put an organization in place, manage HR to unique technical professionals(not treat like a 500 person call center), share growth paths with each employee

    I worked at Advantest full-time

    Pros

None whatsoever. Pay package promised was good, but the insane number of hours that had to be put in made up for this

    Cons

Worked at w2bi. Was a horrible place to work at. No work life balance; management expected employees to work through nights and weekends, based on unrealistic schedules that were committed to without checking with the engineering team. Ethics was highly questionable too; employees with integrity/concerns about these practices were singled out.

    Advice to Management

I hope the new management does something about the management and ethics at this division

I have been working at Advantest full-time

    Pros

Slow paced, cushy job. Good work/life balance. Hard to get fired from this place unless if you really mess up.

    Cons

A lot of good engineers have left Verigy after the Advantest acquisition, mostly what's left are either C and D players or folks who want a retirement job.

    Advice to Management

Don't rest on your laurels just because of our HP legacy. If we don't keep up with the times and be more aggressive with innovation we'll only fall further behind.

    Pros

Can't think of any. If you are Japanese you will not be fired for anything ever.

    Cons

Poor pay, poor work/life balance, poor leadership, control only from Japan. If you aren't Japanese, you won't get ahead

    Advice to Management

    They will not listen

I have been working at Advantest full-time

    Pros

    Stable company with good benefits
    Opportunities for international travel
    Lots of good, dedicated people
Management seems, overall, to care about the employees
Great technical challenges in many areas
Some top managers really believe that change is necessary for success

    Cons

Too much business culture clash between US and Japan
Too many decision makers, sitting in offices all over the world, decision process is slow and ineffective. As per Japanese style, decisions are made in an off-line conversation, then forced on organization even when clear evidence of issues with the decision is presented.
Much of the "old guard" is stuck in the old way of doing things over in Japan. This ends up significantly impacting the US division.

    Advice to Management

Look for ways to combine the best of the business cultures.
Start with the bottom line of what the company needs to achieve financially and work back from there to create a proactive strategy for success

    Cons

we still need to combine the companies and state their long term plans

    Advice to Management

combine middle management and work as one company
