    Pros

Leadership has a genuine desire to be the best place employees have worked and to be a positive impact our community.

    Cons

Medium sized credit union growing fast comes with some growing pains.

I worked at Advantis Credit Union full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company does offer a valuable product for the market it's in and truly means to take care of its members.

    Cons

This company is completely outdated in terms of it's approach to HR, employee relationships, and career development. I could go on and on about the numerous things that happened during my time: signs up all over the back areas of the branches and corporate offices guilting employees to get more exercise and eat healthy, a performance review system that is completely broken and serves to simply make incentive pay as low as possible, mandatory 6 day work weeks for literally months and months on end due to turnover always being so high, and pay/benefits that are low no where near average Portland incomes. If you are actually looking to get valuable experience and grow your career because you are a smart motivated person, this is NOT the place to be. If you simply want a job where mediocrity is the status quo and you're fine with not making much money, then it's more up your alley.

    Advice to Management

It's 2017. Time to start looking at what other companies are doing and offer your most valuable asset (your employees) what they deserve.

I worked at Advantis Credit Union full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great training program, wonderful people to work for. This credit union as most credit unions really care about their members. They are in a growth mode and offer some wonderful products and services.

    Cons

Little communication from Executive Leadership Team to the worker bees. Rarely saw the CEO and only heard from him once a year at the Annual Meeting. It would have been nice to hear how the credit union was doing financially, goals, etc. on a consistent basis. Departments were siloed and not much cohesion. Very little interaction with fellow employees.

    Advice to Management

More communication from the Executive Leadership Team and the CEO on how the credit union was doing, what the goals were, etc.

    Pros

Great place to work. Flexible and a lot of room to grow. Promotes within.

    Cons

A lot of turn over and not very flexible with schooling.

    Advice to Management

Provide more room for growth, be more flexible with school and ask how your employees are doing more and what they want.

I have been working at Advantis Credit Union full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management is supportive & coworkers are great to work with. Great new hire training class. The little things there make employees feel valued - cake on your birthday, gift card on your anniversary, lunch when the company goes through a stressful system upgrade or celebrates a success, low cost health insurance

    Cons

Pay is below market, Daily system issues with the programs needed to complete work, long hold times for the call center which sometimes create upset members and stressed out employees

I have been working at Advantis Credit Union full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A few great people, very few great employees are left.

    Cons

Advanist is in a time of change, they need to make management changes, system changes and no one is communicating from one department to another. Once they get through this transition and through all the staff that are leaving they should be able to set some goals and get started in the right direction.

    Advice to Management

Communicate and take care of your staff!

I worked at Advantis Credit Union full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Members like the products and interest rates are good.

    Cons

Do not value employees, management is not team oriented. Trying to be like the big banks, more interested in growth and sales than customer service. Lots of turnover, training is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Slow the growth and go back to the member focus.
