    Pros

Working with patients. It was nice living near where I worked. I would run into former patients often and they would think you for your care. My coworkers- they were beyond amazing. In a crisis situation nurses would come help from any unit if they could.

    Cons

They do not share that they do not allow you to use COBRA insurance if you resign. Even though it’s a federal law for any business over 20 employees they consider themselves a faith based business and are exempt and obviously they aren’t a church

Great place to work if you're trying to get your foot in the door for healthcare just to go somewhere else

Jun 30, 2022 - Food Service Worker in Gaithersburg, MD
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The benefits (health, dental and vision) Just as the title state's this is a great way to get your foot into a health care facility and move on to better places.

    Cons

Where should I begin? There are lots of cons to working in the food service department. I would say the majority of the people working there don't know what they're doing. On top of that, you're going to be working with a majority of people that have been there for the past 10 - 40 years that are stuck in their ways of doing things. With that being said everyone is very clickly here and will talk/ gossip amongst themselves about everyone & everything. Theirs no secrets here unless you keep your mouth shut. The pay, amount of work, and having to deal with everyone else's nonsense are just not worth it unless you are looking to have a hospital on your resume if you're seriously looking for better opportunities elsewhere. You're also most likely going to be working part-time as the majority of these people are going to be in their full-time slots until they either quit, retire or just straight up pass away. If theirs ever a call out that is often frequent you will be asked if you can stay which would allow you to push 50 - 60 hours a week as a part-timer. If you are a culinarian and highly talented in this field you're going to get called out by a lady who has no business in handling food and constantly says that your training wasn't done right.

    Benefits are reduced.

    Pros

Good health insurance plan, you pay a a monthly payment of $50.00.

    Cons

PTO was reduced as a cut of benefits, and you get just 1.5% raise per year. No Promotions. Lack of leadership.

    Racist Environment

    Pros

They have good benefits and they’re attempting to do more for their staff like opening up a serenity lounge with massage chairs. I think they did it in honor of suicide prevention month.

    Cons

If I could give them half a star I would. They don’t pay us nearly enough for all the work that goes into working here. And also there are certain units that are ridiculously racist and it’s very uncomfortable and they get rid of you if you’re anything other than white unfortunately.
