I have been working at Adventist Midwest Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

pay is decent. hospital staff is very friendly. hospital is in a nice area.

    Cons

High turnover at this hospital. not enough staff to safely provide for pt's. "Christian Values" are not implemented in this hospital. Management do not respect or trust their staff. some nurses take every small problem to management rather than standing behind what they say and tell that person. This creates a "kindergarten" atmosphere. Benefits are not what they should be. budget cuts have caused a lot of issues all over the hospital and thats just the beginning of the cuts they are making.

    Advice to Management

support your staff. listen to your staff. trust your staff.

To be less punitive and more inclusive.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Adventist Midwest Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You will gain amazing experience working with mental health concerns. In no other job would you encounter such diversity in diagnosis.

    Cons

Abusive administration that shames employees to cover up their bad practices. If you take a day off be prepared to get interrogated by administration. If you show up for work expect to do the job of at least 3 people because they have a very ineffective substitute system. Emotionally exhausting due to high student needs and manipulation from administration.

    Advice to Management

Stop manipulating staff! When students assault staff (more often than you'd think), don't ignore it or try to blame the employee.

Management is always pushing their duties onto the staff because they are expected to do to much and attend too many meetings.

    Pros

Good management team. Cared for the employees. Very friendly. Cared for the patients.

    Cons

Now that it has become AMITA Healthcare, the Adventist side of the partnership is getting the short end of the stick. The front line employees will be OK, but management is being cut right and left in favor of the Alexian side of the partnership.

    Advice to Management

Be more equitable in the formation of this AMITA partnership.
