I have been working at Adverum Biotechnologies full-time for less than a year

    Pros

All new Management! I’m guessing the Board listened to the past glassdoor reviews. I recently joined and have had nothing but great experiences with the (new) Management Team. The entire company is really lovely and super passionate about the science. The work life balance is amazing, every effort is made to accommodate each person’s situation. The HR team is truly here for the employee not just the company. They listen and implement accordingly. The energy in the office really is one of excitement for the future of the gene therapy product. I appreciate the comradery between all the new and existing employees. Whatever they did in 2019 worked because I genuinely enjoy being in the office and around my co-workers.

    Cons

It’s a growing company with a lot of new employees so some alignment is needed, but everyone is super open to suggestions and amendable.

I have been working at Adverum Biotechnologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There's been a serious effort to revamp the culture over the last year and it has paid off. Catered lunches, monthly happy hours, and transparent All Hands meetings have restored trust in the management.

    Cons

Company is growing too fast and as a result there are individuals who are underqualified. The fast growth also makes it feel more corporate.

I have been working at Adverum Biotechnologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Cutting edge biotech development Good benefits Understanding managers Balance between passionate work and healthy lifestyle This company has changed tremendously in the past few months - so much positive energy and motivation to bring our products to the next level. Kudos to the leadership team to recognize the need for change and work with the HR to generate safe, productive and inspiring work environment.

    Cons

Still working on structure and fine tuning of (fast, smart, and informed) decision making process. But we are getting there with the help of fully committed HR.

I have been working at Adverum Biotechnologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

New staff is very high quality, committed, and energized. Gene therapy holds so much promise to patients. We are challenged with quick growth to meet the needs of demanding patients and clinicians. The company has a new foundation built on excellent clinical data supported by staff that recognize the opportunity to do novel science.

    Cons

Difficulty in finding high quality candidates for all areas of the company. We have new standards that not all meet.

    Pros

Work life balance is great! The science of what we do is outstanding! New changes have been made in recent months! I accepted a position because I like the science behind our product. Management is trying to work out their shortcomings and are really committed to making things work. I've been in the industry and I've worked at places where they could care less about your opinion and only wanted data, data, data! Here they are about what you have to say and they want you to be engaged with all aspects of the company! I feel the company will go far! In all honesty there is no perfect company to work for so don't be fooled by the negative reviews!

    Cons

Can't think of any as of yet!

I have been working at Adverum Biotechnologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I feel the company is overall great (NOW). We are moving forward with new initiatives to engage employees and help improve communication between the executive team and employees. An HR consultant came in and stirred thing up. Not just did she ask what is going on but she also shared with upper management, which started to enlighten the executive team. We now have fun events and plans for many more. There is food many days, Happy hours, Monthly birthday celebrations and offsite events. Employees are now encouraged to speak up and give opinions on all aspects of their jobs and events. We now have an opportunity to shine in our positions!

    Cons

We were in a tunnel. The company had a lot growing to do and not very good communication in the organization. Many employees had a lot of bad experiences, including myself. But then there was change. For those of us who stayed, we are now being heard and acknowledged. There are still going to be growing pains and with the new hires, comes changes for the better. The changes are happening fast and I look forward to the future. There is no work from home policy yet. Since more and more companies are moving towards allowing employees to work from home I think it would behoove Adverum to really consider allowing working from home at least once a week so we don't have to be in the traffic.
