I worked at Advocates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Knowledgeable professionals
    Great supervision opportunities
Many different positions to work into
    Nice people

    Cons

    Disorganized
Consistently make exceptions to company policies which can create confusion
    Poor communication
Extremely large agency that seems to be operating as if it were small
    Dangerous situations with clients

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Look at who your senior leaders are and ask yourselves if they are truly role models for the field, or have they just been employees at Advocates so long that they have essentially been allowed to take those positions? Senior management could be cliquey, and many of them do things that would not be allowed of lower level employees.

Advocates is a large organization of people just trying to do the right thing, but sometimes it just seemed like people did whatever they wanted because no one was keeping tabs on them.

The senior management is filled with thieves and incompetent unqualified morons. They should all be terminated to save the lives of those they claim to care about. Horrible working conditions, absolutely NO support! AVOID this place.

    Advice to Management

Go work at Walmart handing out stickers, that’s about all you people are qualified to do!

    Pros

    Positive Workplace Environment.
    Non-Judgemental Management.
    Progressive Outlook on Mental Health.
Agency Supports Staff At All Cases.
    Supportive Agency.
    Gratitous Earned Time.

    Cons

Lower Pay (Not exactly agencies fault)
Agency Must Place More Accountability/Discipline For Relief Staff Who No-Call/No-Show shifts.

    Advice to Management

Doing a great job in all aspects. Although you need to place more accountability for the staff who do not show up for shifts, are constantly on their phones or speaking in other languages. It is triggering for many residents who live with forms of paranoia.
