I have been working at Aecon for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good exposure to construction industry, good networking opportunities, good for entry level, good co-workers

    Cons

No work life balance, poor pay, not much direction, little to no training, never hear about doing a good job but they come down on you for the smallest mistake, long hours, not paid for travel, not compensated well for overnight or extended stays, must self-educate.

    Advice to Management

Pay quality workers better to reduce turnover.

I have been working at Aecon full-time

    Pros

Stock options, benefits, health & wellness benefits

    Cons

Unsupportive management with lack of leadership and vision. Long hours with low pay. Lots of rework & waste of resources.

    Advice to Management

End the nepotism. Too many relatives being hired. Leads to poor morale. Develop managers. Many don't have emotional intelligence (people skills).

I have been working at Aecon full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Benefit and pension plan are great. -DCPP Plan where they match up to 5% of your salary. -There are a lot of great and knowledgeable people to learn from. -Field level personnel and middle management are great, they communicate and work together.

    Cons

-Extremely long hours with relative low pay when compared against competitors. -No one knows what is going on, and there is extremely poor communication between higher management and middle/field level personnel. -A lot of people who work here are someone's relative, and most of the time they are not as good as people who have been working there for a long time, that hurts productivity and in the end makes you... want to leave. -"Old boys club"

    Advice to Management

-Communicate properly to everyone, and talk to middle management. -Stop pointing fingers when a problem comes up and actually work to get it resolved.
