I worked at Aegis Defense Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Ability to support defense efforts without needing a security clearance.
Above average pay and recognition for hard work
Knowledge that what you do matters

    Cons

As with any defense contractor company, there are times when you have to make tough decisions that you may not agree with at first but in time realize that's why you're contractors.

I have been working at Aegis Defense Services  (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of employees truly care about the company's mission and the people they work with. The company has recently been awarded several contracts.

    Cons

Senior management is horrible. The people that actually show up every day and work hard are NOT compensated fairly, but senior management is paid very well to do nothing. Very political work environment.

I worked at Aegis Defense Services full-time

    Pros

    -Flexible and results-oriented working environment
-Good individual leadership within most departments
-Many experienced employees with an extensive work history in the private security/defense field

    Cons

-Minimal training and guidance provided, you'll really need to seek these out yourself
-Over-reliance on informal metrics for assessing progress, this is often used as a crutch in place of a formal employee review process
-Inconsistent compensation for employees in the same position
-Sporadic career advancement for loyal employees; unless you know someone you'll only get the scraps left after senior management has given out the juicy positions and salaries to their friends
-Cronyism/nepotism is a serious problem, senior management has trust issues with long-term employees and prefers using consultants and external hires from their previous positions

    Advice to Management

Cultivate an environment with consistent rewards for good work. Create positions for employees to grow into rather than giving out job title rewards with no tangible increase in compensation. Sit down and have honest conversations with department heads to resolve differences of opinion rather than resorting to passive-aggressive management styles. Do not fire the most successful Project Manager that the contract has ever seen over a petty clash of personalities.

I worked at Aegis Defense Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a few people in the organization who are good people

    Cons

    - No upward movement
    - The truth is of no use in this organization...upper management would rather have a "yes man" than someone who actually tells it like it truly is.
    - Upper management hires based on a friendship rather than actual skill or experience
    - Raises and Bonuses, when given, are more of a slap in the face rather than acknowledgement for your hard work.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the people who actually work for the organization. Listen to your employees rather than live in a false reality. Hire people in management positions who are actual management material.

I worked at Aegis Defense Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Pay is excellent after factoring overall benefits come tax season.
The rotation is not bad 105/35 and the time home, is time home.
    Job is easy and manageable.

    Cons

Communication from the top to the bottom is poor. There is a major disconnect from the SL to the DDL's and no room for bridging that gap, because the higher ups don't want to ruffle feathers. even though it might be a safety issue.

I worked at Aegis Defense Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Casual dress code, small corporate office, opportunity for travel, and free coffee

    Cons

No opportunity for professional development, expected to work more than 40 hours a week, low pay, no bonuses and infrequent raises.

    Advice to Management

Management does not show loyalty to middle and low level employees, and is quick to terminate employees based on little or no cause.

    Pros

Very little oversight into day to day operations. Independence and flexible work hours is great. Co-workers are great and supportive.

    Cons

No growth potential, compensation is not considered based off performance. No annual reviews or professional development. Top heavy management, too many chefs not enough cooks.

    Advice to Management

Put your money where your mouth is. A CEO should never brag about an amazing profitable year and yet still not provide raises or bonuses.

    Pros

Very professional management staff (on ground, on project).

    Cons

Administrative issues regarding, payroll, staffing, etc.

    Advice to Management

Doing very well with what they have to work with. Keep it up, things are getting better daily.

I worked at Aegis Defense Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nine, low pay, poor management, threats constantly about your own job. No forward promotion available. Human trafficking because of 30 day work visa and hold on passport/visa for over 3 months. Undermanned and constantly being fined by the customer and doing everything they can to act like they are holding it together. Guards are under paid and bonuses really are a slap in the face since they come and go..they give you an appreciation bonus but trust me you will feel anything but appreciated once you get it. They lack on keeping up with training and yearly certificates that are mandatory. They sweep most things under the table and tell you not to question things. Insurance is $500 a month for a single person.. Need I say more?

    Cons

Look up and read the pros. No need to say more

    Advice to Management

It's no use, you don't care nor will you listen anyways. And no matter what is written here, it will never change a thing.
