    Pros

Interesting type of marketing (Loyalty); good budgets to use for initiatives, progressive technology and communication channels to work with; good to gain experience and then move on

    Cons

Management very secretive, back stabbing environment not collaborative; hostile

    Advice to Management

Be more honest with employees; need to develop a sense of team work and collaboration

    Pros

Nice downtown offices in Toronto and Montreal
Some good people to work with
    Recognized brand in Canada
    Average pay structure

    Cons

    Nothing changes
Everyone is super busy but no real work actually happens
Something dramatic needs to change for the culture to appreciate actual progress.

I worked at Aeroplan full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I was paid a good salary and had a flexible schedule that allowed me to work long stretches in order to take lots of paid time off

    Cons

2 years of "upgrading" systems and processes caused much employee and customer dissatisfaction, no commissions due to union environment

    Pros

I found it easy to work with this company, the people were great, the projects were exciting to work on, and the challenge was always present. Pushed me to learn more and become more and the team there appreciated what I did for them. Great teamwork.

    Cons

As a consultant, you don't get the benefits. And I don't care much for benefits except for one that would have been great to extend to the consultants: being allowed to go to Aeroplan Days events. It's an event that brings everyone together, and I believe it should be done for everyone involved in making the company great, not just employees.

I have been working at Aeroplan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay is extremely competitive. The health plan is, in my experience, unparalleled. There is RRSP matching (essentially a pension), and you can buy an extra week of vacation.

    Cons

This place is ridiculous. Typical bottom-line nonsense, laying people off, offshoring, increasing workloads on existing staff, changing direction every few months... very typical corporate job with the executives in Toronto and the workers in Montreal, with all the executives so busy using buzzwords and maximizing profit for the shareholders that they have completely lost site of life in the trenches.

    Advice to Management

Stop implementing plans without the required infrastructure. Your people are overworked and the ones you don't lay off are burning out or quitting in droves despite the handsome compensation, and no amount of outsourcing will correct the brain drain you appear not to recognize. Your company is crumbling, there are hardly any people left that even understand how all the systems work together.

I worked at Aeroplan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ability to trade days off, Nice coworkers, good benefits

    Cons

Horrible system with constant bugs & outages. Unionized environment makes it almost impossible for growth. Pay is based on a scale, takes 10 years to get to the top of the scale which is only about 60,000. Shift work which changes constantly. Constant shuffling & incompetence of upper management. The program is no longer geared towards benefiting the customers - Management is only concerned about the bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your front line employees... Believe it or not they may have some great ideas. Fix your system. You preach about your values & transparency but don't seem to practice them - definitely the least transparent place I have ever worked. Care about your employees & customers!

I have been working at Aeroplan (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some decent, smart and committed peers to work with. Work/life balance is respected, but not by all managers.

    Cons

Horrible politics. Constant re-organizations. Total lack of innovation and fresh ideas. Stale senior executive team, devoid of any original thought or transparency. Product has a very poor value proposition, and it's getting worse.

    Advice to Management

Most senior executives have hung on for too long. And who was responsible for the 'innovation portal?' Where is it now? Filed next to the Y2K contingency plan?
