    Pros

Good place to start a career straight out of college if you are interested in learning how to recruit. Good training program.

    Cons

no work life balance, poor compensation for work complete, inept management, office politics. Aerotek only promoted those with great sales numbers, not accounting for leadership competencies or abilities. Big mistake when they trust these people with teams of producers.

    Advice to Management

Promote based off of competencies and leadership abilities, as a good salesperson is not going to necessarily make a good leader. Develope a career path for recruiters, as the only one that exsists is for sales positions.

    Pros

    It beats flipping burgers.
It can be a fun environment since you're surrounded by 20 year olds.

    Cons

    Working 50+ hours a week.
Really poor commission structure - They utilize 'spread' where you don't make a % of what you place, but rather a % of the %. It's garbage and a real way of working you over the coals.
No one ever stays that long. It's full of 20 year olds who can't find anything else that's better. Take this job if you want something to tack on to your resume to build experience. I saw 5 or 6 people leave in the time I worked for Aerotek, then a mass layoff that they sprung on us at the last minute.

    Advice to Management

Get a benefit package that doesn't make the company look so cheap.

    Pros

Young people and a fun atmosphere. That is literally it.

    Cons

On the outside, Aerotek is very appealing to young college grads. In reality it is the exact opposite of that. You work over 50 hours a week and get paid for 40, and good luck earning commission on top of that. As a recruiter you are responsible for what OTHERS do, not yourself. If someone quits a job, walks off of a job, or does something stupid management blames YOU. The managers place everything on the recruiters whether or not it was your fault or theirs. If things are going well everyone loves you and if they are not you are on edge to be fired at all times. This is a very stressful, pointless, stupid, unnecessary job you could have. The company thinks they're better than other staffing agencies but in reality they are worse due to its motivation being completely to its personal employees, not its clients. Those who work here usually quit within a year which says enough. It is a very childish company, in the fact that they take young college grads and use them almost to exploitation. I want to be clear that this is more than a personal opinion because it is agreed upon by a large percentage of former and current employees alike.

    Advice to Management

Improve the commission scale and be realistic about goals.

    Pros

The systems that they have in place, regarding their technology, seem useful. There are a lot of cool people who come and go, but none that stay.

    Cons

Look bottom line, this place depends on fresh meat. Nobody wants to stay in an environment working 60-70 hours a week with people breathing down the back of you neck every single minute. The longer you stay the more you will realize that even the sales people who are making money are totally miserable, yet they hardly have the backbone to leave. Truth of the matter is that managment has no clue, and the only reason they're in the managerial roles that they're in is because they're total souless sell outs. To the unknwoing eye it seems like a great energetic place to work, and the company genuine philanthropic concerns for the community. Don't let it fool you! Ask anybody who has worked there, Tek-town is the worst. Additionally, everybody who has made it out mocks their experience at Aerotek, because the company is a joke. It's a shame that they depend on college kids to do the dirty work, because they don't know any better or have anywhere else to go. If you do decide to work there, tell big brother I said hi.

    Advice to Management

Get it together. You treat people like a commodity. Why are you Bisciotti's and Thorton's yes men? You think he cares about the crummy office you and your goons run? You all lead sad miserable lives, and at this point I actually feel sorry for you all.

    Pros

decent experience right out of college..... cult like atmosphere... you wont get promoted unless you brown nose. I wouldnt recommend it

    Cons

everything... cult like... Take this job for 6 months... base pay is decent... go thru their training and bail. unless you like to kiss major ass

    Advice to Management

Quit promoting friends into management when they arent ready. There were so many incompitant idiots at the office that I worked in.

    Pros

Laid back environment most of the time
    Good personalities
    Decent commission scale
    Good experience for working elsewhere

    Cons

    Very bad benefits
    Not family friendly
    Long hours
    Poor base salary
Long climb to promotion with quick retractions for short term misses
    Manadatory after hours events

    Advice to Management

Proven performers should be given the luxury to work flexible schedules if performance does not suffer. Burning out good employees should not be part of the program to achieve turnover.

    Pros

pretty good entry level salary, I imagine if you are able to stay there for at least a year or so it would look pretty good on a resume

    Cons

no one who works there is over the age of 35.
No management skills. Gives you the feeling that you are part of a cult. Working long hours is valued over accomplishing objectives while working.

    Advice to Management

Take a management class. Give feedback to your employees that they are able to use to improve their performance, not just, "you are doing great in your position, just don't know if you are dedicated"

    Pros

Many companies in Des Moines do their hiring with the 6+ main temp agencies. For the biggest employer's this is the main way to get hired.

    Cons

No communication from agents, was looking for job in financial sector and kept getting calls asking if I could drive a tractor or other random job questions. Would set a call up for Tuesday and not call until Thursday.

    Advice to Management

Get agents to contact and call people when they say they will. While unemployed when the agent doesn't respond to e-mail or phone it makes people go to any of the other businesses offering the same type of work in the area.

    Pros

It is an entry into the recruiting world because they always seem to have many openings if you are desperate for work.

    Cons

Boiler room situation, posting of fake jobs on job boards, poor pay, no personal time off, the need to always bring job seekers into the office eve when they were no available jobs.

    Advice to Management

Revamp the organization to respect employees and job seekers. Be honest and upfront. Place people over the profit motive. Increase communication.
