I have been working at Affiliated Computer Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pros are that the hiring process is extremely easy, you can literally walk into the building on an open house session and be given a job, as long as you don't have any major felonies.

    Cons

The pay is not competitive at all compared to what other call centers are paying, and there is no direction between the host company and the Xerox when giving out orders. Good people are doing a lot of hard work for low compensations and it creates a stressful environment for everybody. The work life balance is not good at all, to the company you mean nothing if you are not on the phone and your schedule will be switched without further notice.

    Advice to Management

Treat your workers better overall and they will work harder, morale means so much to a workplace and there isn't much of it at ACS

    Pros

This company lacks resources so if you are willing to put yourself out there and volunteer, you will learn a lot. People are willing to teach you about their position, and how the system works. There are opportunities to grow professionally through teamwork.

    Cons

Sales and upper management make promises to clients that are not realistic. Every department is understaffed and the computer systems are 3+ years in the past. You will learn to be creative in order to by-pass deadlines or over-ride the system to get work done.

With the load of work to be done, there is no work-life balance. You will work 40+ hours (closer to 60). There are promotions to be had as supervisors and managers move on, but somehow they are always a lateral move with no pay raise included.

    Advice to Management

Upgrade your systems and invest in your people.

I worked at Affiliated Computer Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay if you meet the stats. Lots of support in meeting the stats, the team leads are willing to work with you and help you meet your goals.

    Cons

The pay is based on performance and the better you preform the more you get paid. It sounds great but every 6 months to a year they change the pay schedule and some how you end up making less.

    Advice to Management

If you offer top pay ($14 to $18/hr) you will attract top customer service talent without huge turn over rates.

    Pros

The management treated me well. Matching 401k, 4 weeks vacation after completing 5 years of service, Fairly good health plan comparative to the industry.

    Cons

Lack of technology innovations. The executive leadership team on technology continues to squeeze what they can get from a technology built more than 10 years ago.

    Pros

The Cherry Hill office is located near the Patco train station. Great for commuting.

    Cons

The company had too many layoffs.
      About 6 per year.

    Advice to Management

Better management of the business is needed instead of constantly reducing staff.

    Pros

My Manager and co-workers are really GOOD PEOPLE.

    Cons

Everything else about this company is AWFUL

    Advice to Management

Everyone is expendable and the CEO needs to care more about their non-management employees, they are the ones who are really keeping this company running. CEO is out of touch with the true needs of their non-management employees.

    Pros

Very good for learning. You'll get exposed to all sorts of projects and implementations in a high tempo environment. This is a perfect place to solidify your career.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't understand the company and are unable to provide good guidance. Overworks resources and doesn't know how to manage workloads.

I worked at Affiliated Computer Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good first job for high school graduates. Pays more than minimum wage. One hour lunch break after completing 3 week training course.

    Cons

High turnover. Training focuses more on soft skills rather than technical skills. Training occurs in groups of 30 or more. 30 minute lunch break during training. Low pay( above minimum wage). No career path. High school dress code rather than business dress code. It was like attending high school rather than a business. Rotating shifts at supervisors discretion. Very micro managed to an obscene degree.

    Advice to Management

Pay more per hour. Allow rotating shifts to be voluntary.
