I have been working at Aflac full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Training in field is good (depending on assigned trainer), and massive online education support is awesome and constantly growing.
Commissions come fast and there are great rates, there is definitely opportunity here to make a living.
Your salary depends on your daily commitment and motivation.
    Marketing materials are supplied.
Approaching businesses is easier than door knocking or cold calling.

    Cons

Some people are just not the type for this job, and you have to determine that yourself.
    Commission only.
You have to find your own leads.

    Advice to Management

Centralize all enrollments to one system.

I have been working at Aflac as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Largest supplemental carrier in the US. Ethisphere's Most Ethical Companies List 11 years consecutively. Meaningful work helping people and businesses protect their income and families. Unlimited earning potential, trips and bonuses. Flexible schedule. Renewal income and stock bonus. I have more than doubled my annual salary in 3 years and on the way to tripling it this year with a six figure income.

    Cons

Must be motivated and able to work independently. Takes time to build your business, may take a few months to earn a consistent income.

I worked at Aflac (More than a year)

    Pros

Unlimited potential- it's what they sell you on.

    Cons

Very tough to live on all commission when you are starting from scratch. Cold calling essentially the same list as everyone else. People become so angry with the volume of calls, as they should.

    Advice to Management

Figure a real way for the new agents to make money, something, when starting out. Big accounts should be shared, not handed to those already at the top.

I have been working at Aflac full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great brand! Excellent supplemental benefits. Training program has improved and they help new associates service existing accounts to help supplement their income

    Cons

commission only sales, means you have to perform if you want to get a paycheck. Have to be self motivated to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire just anyone, make sure their WHY is the same as our business model.

I worked at Aflac (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Large income potential
    Own boss
    Great brand recognition

    Cons

You start with no customers whatsoever, so you better have a bunch of money set aside to support yourself while your business grows. Your District Mgr will help, but the first couple of years will be VERY lean. Many reps work two jobs just to survive. There are no assigned territories so agents are constantly stepping on one another, much to the consternation of potential customers.
Also, there are no benefits of any kind. You're an independent contractor so EVERYTHING is on you. There are also mandatory trying sessions one must attend with no compensation.

    Advice to Management

Be a little more open about how lean the first couple of years will be. Also, the business model of constantly hiring more reps really hurts the reps already on board.
A stronger effort needs to be made to make new hires aware of what they're getting themselves in for.

I have been working at Aflac part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The opportunity presented is huge, the company has a great reputation and for good reason

    Cons

The mentorship is available, if you can catch them and tie them down. Cold calling is a drag, and the downside of being entrepreneurial is that you have to be entrepreneurial.

    Pros

None unless you consider losing money to your employer a pro, or putting thousands of miles on your own car, or working many hours with no results.

    Cons

Commission only, and they pay you commission up front so if a customer doesn't pay their bill you must pay back all your commission plus interest to Aflac. Due to this, you truly never make a paycheck. I ended up owing them thousands of dollars. Worst decision of my life. I put 10,000 miles on my car in 5 months and owing them thousands of dollars. I should have just went on a nice 5 month road trip instead.

    Advice to Management

The pay structure is ridiculous. Please change it. I will warn every person I ever meet to never work for you because of it.
