I have been working at Aflac as a contractor

    Pros

Manage your own schedule, work Monday-Friday 8a-5p, trips and bonuses for reaching goals.

    Cons

Door to door sales, lots of time in your car, must have access to computer and Wifi on the go.

I worked at Aflac as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really nice people in the Columbia office. Enjoyed seeing everyone every day and felt there were plenty of people willing to help answer my questions. Plus you end up setting your own schedule a bit so I was able to come late/leave early as needed.

    Cons

Its a commission only sales position. You're cold calling and canvassing every day. Basically the entire job is a con unless you want to do a commission only sales job. The interns that made money sold policies to their parents/family. Interns that did not have family to sell to made very little (no) money.

    Advice to Management

Don't give all your interns the same list to cold call off of. They will get screamed at and it is not fun.

    Cons

Commission only. Hard to get in if you don't know anyone.

The people you work with are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and the feeling you get when helping families in need is incredible.

    Cons

Commission only, hard to make it if you're just getting out of college

    Advice to Management

    Base salary

I worked at Aflac as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The managers are awesome people with great intentions that truly want to help everyone around them in any way possible. There is plenty of training to prepare you for the job, and everyone that works for the company will do anything to help new hires.

    Cons

It can be tough to stay motivated since there is so much work to do by yourself, and it can be easy to put it off without anyone there to hold you accountable.

I have been working at Aflac full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Headquarters in Columbus takes great care of their employees. While I work in a Market Office not near Columbus I have still been there to see the headquarters of the company. Almost quarterly there is some sort of employee appreciation. Overall they treat the employees very well.

    Cons

Communication can be difficult when you work thousands of miles and 2 hours time difference with headquarters or when you are working with markets on the other side of the country. Nothing can really be done about this.

    Advice to Management

    None.
