I have been working at Aflac full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

When you ‘make’ money it’s deposited into your account within a few days.
You get to meet lots of people.
You’re not tied down to an office all day.
    Flexible schedule.

    Cons

Unless you have a ton of contacts who can influence business owners to offer Aflac to their employees you don’t make money.
The lake/porter county is saturated. Every business has been visited more than once. Most people are sick of seeing agents and feel we waste their time. If anyone in this area wants Aflac they’re already a client.

    ***completely commission***

You can make money if another agent takes you to an open enrollment but they’re going to take their friends and family before they take a new agent. They’re basically using you for your contacts and waiting for you to quit.

This is not the job for someone who is trying to support their family.

No matter how many of their flyers say this is a great place for women/latinas it’s a great big good ol’ boys club.

    Advice to Management

Be upfront with your interviewees, leave that ‘leap of faith’ speech out of the interview. This job isn’t for everyone unless you are actually willing to put the time into them.

I have been working at Aflac full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility in my schedule is huge! Unlimited income potential, management opportunities available. It can be hard work but it is worth it if you can stick to it and are committed to building your own business. Where else can you start a business with little to no financial investment?

    Cons

100% commission can be difficult to adjust to for some people. It just means how much you make is in your own hands.

    Advice to Management

More structure in training new hires to get them up and running quickly

I have been working at Aflac full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule as well as uncapped commission

    Cons

Not all of the district managers are really fit for management and unfortunately, getting stuck under one of these managers can ruin someone's experience with the company. AFLAC also hires reps left and right, diluting the market significantly

    Advice to Management

Hire way more selectively so that agents are not running around ruining AFLAC's brand image. Promote more selectively and promote based on leadership skills instead of solely looking at sales numbers.

    Pros

AFLAC has a great compensation program as well as incentive contests, recruiting bonuses and build your own hours! Feel great making a difference in people's lives!

    Cons

You have to build your own book of business. Cold calling is required, period. This means, from day 7, you're on the street knocking on doors, calling on business owners and your circle of influence build your personal book of business. It takes time to get to making sales, but when you sell, you're paid in a timely fashion, someone's within 3 days!
