I worked at Aflac full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people and great team atmosphere.

    Cons

As I'm sure others will say, the commission only pay is rough. Expenses are also through the roof -- gas, food, ducks to leave at businesses, etc. The market is so saturated, I would get told "you're the third Aflac rep today" on multiple occasions. We would also have daily meetings and would sometimes have to come in on weekends for prospecting events (which we had to call our "numbers" in for) all while working COMMISSION ONLY. Any and all negativity or questioning was met with swift rebuttal and accusations of "not being a team player" or "not having what it takes".

    Advice to Management

I doubt they care about anything I have to say, and if they listened, I'm sure it would be my fault for not being driven or "wanting to work my buisness" enough.

I have been working at Aflac full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Training in field is good (depending on assigned trainer), and massive online education support is awesome and constantly growing.
Commissions come fast and there are great rates, there is definitely opportunity here to make a living.
Your salary depends on your daily commitment and motivation.
    Marketing materials are supplied.
Approaching businesses is easier than door knocking or cold calling.

    Cons

Some people are just not the type for this job, and you have to determine that yourself.
    Commission only.
You have to find your own leads.

    Advice to Management

Centralize all enrollments to one system.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, no cap on income, excellent training and development, career advancement available, stock and vesting on renewals

    Cons

I have been working at Aflac full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

if you stay for longer than 5 yrs can be good, if under 5 you do not own your business.

    Cons

I notice with many teams, they make there own rules up, what can be sold for a group already in force and change it at times. Also put condition's on bundling which many clients don t like after they find out. I think this is twisting the sell. I m not in favor of that. I want my business to stay on the books. Also i am asked to pay a fee for selling to the team if i want to stay. PS: they don t help us to earn it in my opinion.

    Advice to Management

Ask all the question s before you start. Management does not or can t tell you everything at time of interview.

    Pros

Wonderful work environment. Great folks who care about each other and want to help everyone succeed. Great supplemental insurance products.

    Cons

Full commisssion pay. There is no base pay so your success depends upon your ability to sell insurance. Cold-calling is apart of the deal. Not a good fit for someone who is not good at meeting and talking to new people.

    Advice to Management

I would consider offering your agents some sort of a base pay structure. Depending upon your location and the economy, success in insurance sales especially supplemental benefits, can be slow at times.

I worked at Aflac full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They make it sound good............talk it up like it's the best job ever. Lots of big talk. Make you feel like they care.

    Cons

Very misleading. Talk it up like its a glorious position, when in fact all they need are warm bodies. Commissioned job but they don't tell you that until you have wasted so much time with them.

    Advice to Management

Aflac needs to get in line with the times. Who can work on only commission and no pay for weeks. Don't call the position one thing and then hire and give another title. You are a joke when it comes to employment.
