I have been working at Aflac full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Freedom to be your own boss and set your own hours. This is a very community-driven company with people who will give you advice if you ask. The bonuses are very enticing especially once you get through your first year.

    Cons

The biggest con would be that your first year is, from my experience, going to be your most stressful so before you apply make sure you ask what type of workload it takes to be financially stable during that time.

    Advice to Management

If you are training new associates, do not give preferential treatment to one at the ecpense of others.

I have been working at Aflac full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Well known and reputable company.

    Cons

Too many salespeople calling on businesses and never following up. They quit instead of going thru the sales process. There's no way to know if somebody has previously called on the businesses so there may have been 6 different Aflac agents contact the same business in a 3 month period.

    Advice to Management

Work with the agents you recruit until they are comfortable with the sales process before you run out and hire 5 more. Maybe they would stay.

I worked at Aflac as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

You do not have to worry as to whether or not AFLAC will pay its claims. They do. It is an opportunity to be your own boss and make your own income.

    Cons

AFLAC recruits non stop making promises to new associates they cannot keep. I refer to it as the "Duck Bomb." You will be told, "activity activity activity will make your pay check. You will set multiple appointments and book a full calendar for a district who does not close the deal. Before you are trained attention is given to the next 20 recruits they've promised to make rich. You cannot write business on your own and no one follows through with you. Your work will also be give to newer associates to boost new hire AP. You end up splitting commissions with older associates struggling to earn income, so crumbs are dealt out. Within your first couple of weeks, you are asked to train new hires before you are trained. Mean while, you're told recruit, recruit, recruit.....honest people have little chance of success. Oh and when you finally make some sales, the no-pays kick in and the little money you have earned is then owed back to the company with interest.

    Advice to Management

Offer a base pay, stop over recruiting and train the talent you hire properly.

    Pros

    The cancer policy pays

    Advice to Management

hire professional management, not superior sales persons

I worked at Aflac part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Independent work schedule. If you are super good at sales and willing to do a ton of cold calling you have maybe a 40% chance of success.

    Cons

100% commission, 95% failure rate, Company wants you to sign up friends and family then I think they expect you to fail.

    Advice to Management

    More training, mentoring.

I have been working at Aflac full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great team of sales managers. Compensation for me has gone up every year I have been here, and its nice to know that you will make money regardless of getting new sales after one year. You get stock in Aflac and I have been on about 10 different trips since starting which were really great. If you work hard you get paid to help people. The ability to make your own schedule and not stuck on an office all day is also a pro.

    Cons

Some of the agents don't work and complain too much, but I think that's anywhere.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of the complainers.

I have been working at Aflac as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The opportunity of having a flexible schedule and high-income potential. The environment is very friendly and the company wants you to succeed. There is a lot of chances to win trips and awards but you must work well on your own and be disciplined in your work ethic.

    Cons

No stable income. A very hard beginning if you do not have some experience or any fallback money. You can go long stretches of time without an income if you do not have anything in your pipeline moving forward.

    Advice to Management

Have your team members have an easier start by helping them prospect more and work on warm leads. Choose to focus on a smaller team instead of constantly over recruiting and increasing the high turnover rate. Also by doing this the market will be less saturated with bad agents.
