    Pros

As an entry level accounts payable role, you will learn a lot about office workflows and the fundamentals of accounts payable, vendor relations, and the food retail industry. Additionally, as a smaller company, you will have opportunities to get involved in other non-accounts payable tasks and gain cross functional teamwork skills.

    Cons

Limited opportunities for promotion. Learning pace significantly slows after the first 6 months.

    Advice to Management

As a small family company, there are many opportunities to make the company culture more fun and boost employee morale. Better compensation should be considered too.

    Pros

Nothing! You get an hour work break but are scheduled 9hrs a day so basically you are working an hour for free on YOUR time when they are legally supposed to give you an hour break if you work 8hrs in NYC. Not allowed to drink water or take any type of break period to the bathroom without being reprimanded or flat out FIRED. Absolutely no communication between management and can be written up for almost anything. (Write ups don't matter because in employment contract they state they can fire you anytime for any reason)

    Cons

Serious rodent and insect problems, live roaches and mice located all throughout the departments and clear to see traps set in place for customers to see. Kitchen downstairs in constant state of danger and littered with filth and grime. No dishwashers/porters cleaning throughout the day and let the dishes overflow to the ceiling. All machinery constantly broken down or worn out. Just terrible...

    Advice to Management

Instead of firing people for literally no reason; have a proper checks and balance system that gives warnings and write ups if employees are doing something wrong. You have to speak up and be a little more caring if you want your business to run the way you really want it to run. Stop treating the staff like slaves with no lives. And most of all show a little RESPECT. Joe and Louie if the place is really failing... instead of taking it out on US just shut down your mediocre unsanitary store. Simple

I worked at Agata & Valentina full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

1hour lunch breaks and great food in the area.

    Cons

too much micromanagement going on, staff is blamed for bad sales when there isn't even a soul in the store to make sales. Good Employees are not valued at all and looked down on. Known for hiring people with zero experience and zero customer service skills. Working with ex convicts, which is not bad, everyone deserves a second chance... but they bring the streets to work with them. Joe and Lou find someone who has experience in your HR hiring department. HR at any other job is supposed to help you but HR for this company is just another office filled with "store managers" impossible to take your vacation.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, Joe and Lou stop micromanaging and trust your workers and store management. Stop hiring ex cons and teach HR how to talk to employees with respect. McKinley your great and deserve so much more.

    Pros

    FREE FOOD ON FRIDAYS ONLY

    Cons

    1. micromanagement
    2. the owner and the manager does nothing but complain and complain
    3. no one is respected by the owner and manager, and everyone takes the blame for everything and anything.
4.The Manager walks around all day in the office looking at what people are doing and dictating what they should be doing.
    5. very suffocating environment where you can't take 2 min break from all the stress.
    6. does not care for your vacation, sick days and personal days.
    7. both the owner and manager will call you in the last minutes to discuss work and will keep you in no matter how long it will be finished. No respect on when you are supposed to leave. Plus they do not pay overtime.
    8. Be aware if you apply for a staff accountant job --you will not be doing that job as well. Instead you have the privilege any job that is backed up from others.
    9. this place is gloomy and dead.

    Advice to Management

    EVERYTHING!

guaranteed full time and one week of paid vacation of one year of work.

    Cons

Hostile work place. Unsanitary culinary environment. They hire extremely unexperienced staff. High Turnover rate. Management is terrible, none of them are trained or have any care about the job or the people that work under them. Micro management from the owners, favoritism, and nepotism.
They habitually over look sexual harassment and bullying. Rampant racism, homophobia and Misogyny.

    Advice to Management

Learn to care about the job.
    Learn how to communicate effectively.

    Pros

The store is a beautiful store, you get trained VERY well. You also get exposure to many different areas of the store which is a plus for me! it allows you to be extremely well rounded and obtain strengths in many different areas. The store is fast paced, the staff is very friendly and upper management and HR have an open door policy, they are very involved in all aspects of the store and care about the employees and ensure everything is running smoothly and everyone is happy!

    Cons

Because its such a busy store, it really is only meant for people who have GREAT customer service and really love to help people and stay active and busy. If that is not you, than you'll have an issue working here.
