I have been working at Agfa Graphics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A good company with excellent people. Full commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction. Opportunities exist for those who extend themselves. While a large organization, there is an ability to influence and accelerate change.

    Cons

Ambition level varies with business segment. Burden of European labor laws.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing. Don't be patient with staff who are not engaged. Be aggressive.

I worked at Agfa Graphics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Agfa has pretty decent benefits.

    Cons

Top management is not grounded has lost touch with reality

    Advice to Management

Layoffs will not improve profitability, as Agfa has reached point of diminishing return. Management must understand that now only way to improve profitability is increase top line.

I worked at Agfa Graphics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-workers were very nice and professional. But many of them are being laid off.

    Cons

Upper Management is putting unrealistic goals and expectation on Accounts Managers and Technical and Support staff.

    Advice to Management

Sales Force, Technical Support and company as a whole is understaffed. The way to grow business is not by reducing head count. You are loosing sight of your customers needs and they are noticing. Good Luck, i hope that it is not too late by the time you realize that sales has a lot to do with relationship and trust. This takes time to cultivate. But in the long run it works.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Agfa Graphics part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, vacation time, schedule flexibility. Great place to learn manufacturing environment, learn to fix older/fragile equipment, and how to make things work with little resources.

    Cons

Very little money to spend on improvements, overbearing management team stuns any productivity, and young engineers are not valued. No communication within company. Very over-controlled manufacturing environment. No raises/bonuses. Project management is not logically organized.

    Advice to Management

Need to value workforce more. Many times, management will take the side of other management over their operator's word in any dispute (creating animosity).

I worked at Agfa Graphics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, 4 shifts to chose from. 12 hour shift. 8 hours overtime every other week.
    Week 1: 36 hours
    Week 2: 48 hours
    Roughly: 45,000/year base pay

    Cons

12 hours is long, lots of physical work. Some days, very smooth, other days can be hard.
    Stressful.
NEVER do this job while going to school.............!

    Advice to Management

Treat people fairy and with respect. Experience doesn't always mean trustworthiness.

    Pros

Allowed me to grow within the organization. Interested in quality and employee input. Lots of committed long term employees.

    Cons

With such a large company reaction time to an issue could take long. Many layers of management that sometimes got in the way. Too many small empires, not always seen as one team.

    Advice to Management

Since I haven't been with this company for many years (left in 2000) I no longer have an idea of what management is currently doing. Feel advice would be inappropriate.

    Pros

Interesting and challenging work environment, where management lets you work at your own pace. Many people here are very easy-going and good to work with. Compensation is above average usually.

    Cons

The management looks toward new opportunities to make money and often leaves their old processes in the dust. Very few growth opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Make a note of meeting your employees, even if they are at the bottom level and are just a simple machine operator.
