I have been working at Agfa Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Traveling and seeing the country. Learning new software. Meeting new people. Being exposed to new equipment. Meeting and finding out about other vendors and how the company works.

    Cons

Away from family and home every single week and most weekends, missing your wife's home cooked meals, not being able to plan any weekend trips.

    Advice to Management

    Where do I begin?

    Pros

There were some very talented people to work with and learn from.

    Cons

Poor top down management of cross functional team and cross site coordination. There was a tremendous amount of cross department bickering regarding roles and responsibilities. Management did a poor job of clearly mapping out the organizational structure, this creating misunderstandings and wasted expense on internal strife. QARA is an untamed purple beast, leveraging powers for evil, rather than good.

    Advice to Management

You created an unchecked monster in QARA. Their main goal is to get bigger and have more influence. They use their power to point fingers, rather than work on business friendly solutions. However, management needs to hold them accountable. They are eating the organization from the inside out.

    Pros

Talented employees across multiple departments. Decent compensation due to lots of overtime pay.

    Cons

Mgmt is either out of touch or simply choose to ignore internal/external customers. Instead of inspiring process & quality improvement they choose to continue biz as normal and kick the can down road. Low performers are not let go as mgmt is too afraid position will not be approved by HQ to be re-filled. This leads to poor morale of the good employees as they end up picking up the slack. Poor growth in private sector; lowest-bid govt projects keeps us afloat.

    Advice to Management

Retire - break out that golden parachute.

    Pros

Health insurance and pay was the median for job class

    Cons

Long days and no raises for 8 years. No recognition for a job done above and beyond to save a customer contract

    Advice to Management

You lay off the wrong people at times and never get out in the field to meet customers or you field employees

I worked at Agfa Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The compensation is competitive with high base salaries. Overall the sales management is strong and committed to helping sales people be successful.

    Cons

Product development on the Cardiology PACS side was very far behind the competition. Unfortunately, the company does not have the resources to close the gap and the inability to stay on pace or move ahead of the competition has resulted in extremely low customer satisfaction and declining market share.

I worked at Agfa Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most of the teams function very well and are very supportive. There is a good starting rate of pay and bonuses.

    Cons

Management tends to have the senior people train the new employees and document the processes and then they fire the higher paid individuals. The bonuses and incentives have been reduced over the years for sales and technology support personnel. The management promises things they don't deliver on training.

    Advice to Management

You promise group training for system support (hardware/storage) and then never deliver. Clients are not confident in the products you deliver due to bugs or undocumented features that seem fixed in one release and then reoccur in later versions. Stop reducing the staff in the US. The US numbers always seemed to look better than Canada or Belgium and EU.

I worked at Agfa Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Pay was pretty good. Company provided car was very nice fringe benefit.

    Cons

Where to begin...Out of touch senior management, over-weighted, meaningless metrics. No sense of teamwork - people too guarded with their little "piece of information" as if it were their security blanket and to share too much would jeopardize their perceived job security. "[Blank] rolls downhill" is alive and well with Agfa.

    Advice to Management

Do something for the company, take your golden parachute and leave while the damage is repairable.
