I have been working at Agfa Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good people, customers like the products.

    Cons

Weak US management serving their European overseers. Management does not seem to understand IT business model.

    Advice to Management

Time to let go of film and be an IT company. US employees are not expendable commodities.

I have been working at Agfa Healthcare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good people that have great ideas but are handcuffed due to inept management from Corporate in Belgium

    Cons

Philosophy is to throw everything against the wall to see what sticks...and then repeat as many as times possible until something comes out of it. Since their sales numbers are horrible, the US market is cutting staff left and right to make budget.

    Advice to Management

    Look for gainful employment

    Pros

No micromanagement but I think the days of regional managers sitting at home and not bothering anyone is over.

    Cons

Rumors of middle management being eliminated to make room for more support in front of the customers. You have an acount manager, regional manager, local service support and GSC. We have too many positions that should be supporting the customer but are not. Regional Manager is not ever seen, Account manager is only seen when they want to sell something and local support is all over the place trying to wear many hats. GSC is being slammed and yelled at for all of the above lack of support and communication with the client.

    Advice to Management

Eliminated regional managers and local IT support they should be resolving issues via remote support. Most of IT calls via local service are bogus made up calls to make it look like they are busy. Regionalize via multistate your imaging support for DR. CR and printing can be outsourced and still make money on each call, use the Konica model. Account managers do an excellent job getting in the face of the client and if not replace that person. Too much fat that you can't afford.

I have been working at Agfa Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Managers are not around so you can work part-time

    Cons

No room for growth, company so lean on personnel it takes forever to get things done. Technology is behind, sells vaporware and management is so old they don't care because they are on their way out. Everybody is looking for jobs so nothing gets resolved. Customers very frustrated so they are dropping like flies.

    Advice to Management

Start looking at the industry and listen to the customers and employees.

    Pros

    - extremely proud of our product and that we make a direct difference in healthcare. Peers are amazing.
    - interim R&D Manager well appointed & amazing. Ps keep her because she is amazing and NO one can pull together projects like she can. She "gets" it. Regional Health Manager remarkable and working toward a better product.

    Cons

    - totally agree with comments of March 2010 submission!
    - 6.5 project plan unfair to other staff not on same project. Everyone works hard and long hours and not just select few should be compensated for overtime hours. Isn't that called "discrimination"?
    - bonuses subject to bell curve: 15% needs - 70% meets - 15% exceeds. No matter what any manager says, it's based on favoritism. Everyone in R&D works incredibly yet they had to fill a quota. How insane is that? Managers based feedback on year end assessments soley to fit the placement, not the other way around. Some people never heard a negative word all year but got 15%. Good way to demotivate.
    - No cost of living increases in 2 years (how can we convince anyone to work here with those stats)

    Advice to Management

Bring back the respectful days of Mitra and values we hear about. Why in the world do you keep some of most boorish, negative and incompetent Management staff? They don't even have the background, education or soft skills close to doing the job? They are costing HUGE dollars and causing irrepairable damage. And, they stab the good Managers in the back until they leave too.
