    Pros

Benefits are on par with any employer of this size
    Pay is competitive
    Work Life Balance is great.

    Cons

Room for growth but no clear path or support for achieving it.
    Growth by acquisition only.
    Very segmented company.
Outdated processes and system make simple tasks overly complex.
Basically it is a government job, good benefits but not somewhere for a young person trying to move up and make changes.

    Advice to Management

Planning and mentoring for employee growth would greatly reduce turn over. This includes employees of the companies you acquire.

I worked at Agilent Technologies as a contractor

    Pros

Pretty friendly. Drastic cuts seemed to have brought survivors closer.
    Very interesting project.
Decent offices with lockers, a shower, and a pretty good cafeteria.

    Cons

Some old-timers, who controlled crucial data, would never lift a finger to aid project. Always a cold shoulder.
Very interesting project turned out to be a sham. Soon became clear that upper management had zero interest in improving quality of products or services. Simply wanted to push some numbers around so performance figures looked better. Then he go bored with even that.

    Advice to Management

Upper management lacked energy and intelligence. Drive for improvement or innovation was absent. Nobody seemed to be personally invested and, to make matter worse, it became increasingly common for upper management to split time between continents, guaranteeing a lack of energetic leadership.

    Pros

Good work life balance. Working remotely is not grieved upon. Many recent senior management changes seem in the right direction but time will tell

    Cons

Lack of leadership and slow decision making and zero risk taking. Need to recognize and value scientific and market know how more then typical MBA talk

    Advice to Management

    Address the cons above :)

    Pros

Pleasant work environment. Relatively low key with a lot of nice people.
Structured review process seems fair, with opportunity to review your management, as well.

    Cons

For an IT job, little hands on as most is outsourced to partners. Keep this in mind if that is important to you.

    Advice to Management

Improve time off (combined vacation and sick should start at 4 weeks, not 3) package.
Restructure medical plan to provide an option with standard copays. High deductible plans really eat a hole in the family budget.

    Pros

Co-workers and local work environment was great.
Strong technical resources, people open to being mentors

    Cons

Culture didn't always match up well between US and Asia teams; at times did not feel like one team working to the same goals.

    Pros

The day-to-day work environment is good. The people are good to work with and, in my case, resources are adequate.

    Cons

The management is so risk averse that the company can't grow. Priority choices always seem a bit off. There has been a steady erosion of respect for the employee.

    Advice to Management

Grow a pair. You have cut up a great company into little bits and made it less than it could have been, all to please four month investors. Look again at the relationship of company to employee; there has not been any change in the company with respect to the employee that results in BETTER pay or benefits regardless of what the HR people or CEO say.
