I worked at Air China full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work in a world famous building. Job assignments are pretty easy to complete, not much sales quote pressure. Sometime the day can go by very fast with you doing essentially nothing.

    Cons

There is no "friend" at the office, everyone hate their jobs. Older employees tends to slack off whenever they can on the job. The oldest employee over there can't even write a sales report in English. Low salary considering your position and their requirement. Day to day jobs not defining. Your job is basically anything and everything the management tells you to do. Most of them are very time consuming and robotic after awhile. Very few vacation days compare to other office. There is no overtime pay. If you work overtime, they give you time off on another work day. If you are handling the office phone, be prepare to answer to rude customers screaming at you in Chinese dialects of all kind. If any of the NY flights are cancel, the office will suddenly be in a crisis mode. No career advancement opportunities, management teams are chosen directly from Bei Jing HQ. Confusing employee benefits and are changing every few month.

    Advice to Management

Be nicer to your employees, treat them better. Most new employees only last 0-2 years because the salary is just too low for the position. In my opinion the managers can smile more around the office, they always seem mad about something.

    Advice to Management

Management should look after the staff.

I have been working at Air China full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job security - due to the very low levels of employee investment and compensation, management is realistic about the amount of pressure given as well as expectations of employee performance

    Cons

Low salary, no growth opportunities whatsoever for local hires, minimum benefits, management barely has conversational English skills

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your employees
