I worked at Air Liquide (USA) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are some really intelligent engineers and great people to work with/around.

    Cons

Anyone in middle to upper management is more concerned with managing their career than doing their actual job. Upper management will do just about anything to make their numbers and gain their bonuses. Entry level salaried employees are pretty much abused in regards to extra hours required to complete projects, phone calls that you're expected to answer when on vacation, etc.

    Advice to Management

Start being decent human beings. To the few good managers, stop enabling the bad ones.

I have been working at Air Liquide (USA) full-time

    Pros

    Good salary, Excellent safety culture

    Cons

Infrastructure is poor and need major renovation.

    Advice to Management

Management need to introspect if employee turnover number is high. Management must ensure company policies are followed and that the policies are not merely fancy statements to be hung on wall as decorative piece. Issues must be heard and brushing them under carpet cause great damage to the perceptions.

    Pros

Nice people, good team environment working in operations. Meetings were minimal and short. Didn't really feel a sense of politics.

    Cons

Can get hectic in operations, but that's what you're signing up for - some things will go wrong out of your control, but you just need to have thick skin, take responsibility, and move on. Account Executives tend to be bossy and try to call the shots for you sometimes.

I have been working at Air Liquide (USA) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Solid company that is unlikely to go out of business. Operations management cares about the employees. Outstanding safety record.

    Cons

It is ironic that the company wants to use glassdoor to "attract and retain" employees not long after a fairly large reduction in force. I used to feel like a company but after the changes over the last few years if feels like any other part of corporate America. The company is no longer loyal to the employees.
This year about half of the employees didn't receive a raise this year, and the average for those that did is 1.5%. This comes off the heals of a year where we made our financial targets. After the purchase of Air Gas if feels like we are being brought down to their level of benefits so I expect this level of compensation increases to continue for many years.

    Advice to Management

Be upfront with employees about the future of compensation. There is more work than return to keep the "1AL" movement going. Too much change, we are wore out from implementing change without enough resources to make the change happen. We keep reducing the number of people but not the amount of work.

I've been with AL for over 4 years and love the way that AL looks at their people as the future of the company. Always looking to develop, mentor and promote employees.

    Cons

none that I can think of

    Advice to Management

Continue to look to your people, they will make the company grow.
