I worked at AirWatch (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees make you feel equal to them rather than like an intern, giving you meaningful work. I very much felt like a member of the team. I knew that my work actually had an impact on the constant forward development of Airwatch, which not many interns can say.

The corporate culture is also enjoyable. There are many smart young professionals that, for me, provided a way to ask questions about my future career and what my next step should be. They also have professional panels in which the higher-ups come in and give their career stories and insight on how their beginnings went. It was very helpful.

    Cons

I have heard from other employees that working full time is a ton of work. Very much is expected of all employees and it can be very stressful, and work life balance can be interrupted often for some.

    Pros

Hot industry, disruptive technology, great people, great solution, great experience great ability to earn significant money, great product

    Cons

Dell Acquisition, somewhat legacy thinking that sales must be done in the office. More Pro's than Con's

    Advice to Management

Employees can achieve success in a variety of ways and should be celebrated even if it's opposed to traditional/legacy ideals.

    Pros

Great work atmosphere with excellent facilities.
Good internal training material and facilities.
Generous funding per annum to go learn something new.
    Excellent benefits.

    Cons

I like the way airwatch handles the mdm for apple products. Paired with Content Locked it is a secure convenient way to track and deliver information to users securely.

I worked at AirWatch full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has a good culture overall and they offer good benefits. They do try their best to have a decent work/life balance and you also get to work with new technology.

    Cons

Despite their effort at a good work life/balance, it can be a very hectic environment due to constantly changing priorities and objectives which can lead to stress. They also in the past have tended to underpay their employees for their actual role by hiring employees at lower paying role and then transferring them into a higher paying role. This has started to change with VMWare, but it is still a tactic they utilize.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at AirWatch full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work-life balance, the stock is doing really well and the opportunity to learn VMware technologies that will eventually enable me to work for my own self. Great co-workers: smart and driven.

    Cons

    - Bad managers
    - Huge trust deficit
    - Scathing emails are regularly sent
    - Managers do not know how to communicate
    - Some AirWatch managers in position of power do not understand basic business principles either, talk about cannibalizing other teams' services without realizing
    - Southern culture sadly permeates this office: conscious and unconscious bias is on full display, respect for minorities severely lacking

    Advice to Management

Realize that learning is a life-long process and that they too need to learn from the people that they manage and via educational opportunities (optional or mandatory) within the company that will make them better managers and people.

    I worked at AirWatch full-time

    Pros

    - Good salary. You are paid more than what you do
    - Decent benefits
    - If you like a 9 to 5 job, this is a perfect place

    Cons

Glassdoor should not worry about the 5 word minimum, since there is plenty to say here.

    - Very politically toxic environment
    - Lots of nepotism. Positions are opened up, but you already know who is getting it.
    - Most managers do not have a direction because their career itself does not have a direction
    - Even the basic things which you need to make your job more productive are provided. You have to literally plead for things

Note: This is not VMware, but AirWatch management.

    Advice to Management

Higher management from VMware needs to look into the mismanagement what local AirWatch managers are up to.

I have been working at AirWatch full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    good salary and benefits
    good top management

    Cons

Politics, favoritism, survival of the most manipulative and power hungry.

    Advice to Management

Take a closer look at your newly minted managers and directors. They seem to have lost it.If you ask for something you deserve, you will be retaliated against. Anti immigrant sentiments can be clearly felt if not voiced, again depends on particular teams. The unconscious bias training doesn't work when it is conscious.

I worked at AirWatch full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people, good benefits. They were starting to allow for some flexibility and working remote.

    Cons

Management is often under qualified in the sales arena. All metric-driven, not a lot of room for strategy selling in SMB or Mid-Market. Base pay low.
