I have been working at Airbnb (Less than a year)

    Pros

good pay, friendly staff, amazing for networking, good experience

    Cons

For me the only con is that there is no place for the host to review me as a photographer, I'm offering a service and to have a review of my work would be good not only for me but also for Airbnb

    Advice to Management

I will just advice that they make a section where the host can review my work as a photographer, everybody that I have taken pictures of their houses love the pictures and always ask me where they can review my work.

I have been working at Airbnb as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of opportunities to shoot.

    Cons

The Company is making a mint. Their profits can be directly connected to the beautiful Photography of the pro shooters. The value Airbnb puts on that Photography is a pittance. They have contributed to crushing the value of great imagery. $ 50/shoot started with them.
In addition, the Photographers are most often the ONLY point person the host meets. The Photographers must represent the Brand professionally, and are not paid to do so.

    Advice to Management

Pay a proper rate for the value of the imagery. One idea would be to tie the gross income of a hosts listing to the expert photographer who shot it. By creating great images, the value of the listing grows. The Photographer would be paid a fair residual, based upon the success of the host. This would then off the Photographer an real incentive to shoot well, and Airbnb would pay a fair wage. $ 50/ shoot is NOT fair.

I have been working at Airbnb (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company, it is like a big family and I grew up professionally with them.

    Cons

There are no benefits for photographers, even if we are the only "human interface" for the hosts.

I have been working at Airbnb (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very flexible - Decent salary over time (improved)
Little oversight once you get the requirements, with minimal to no bureaucracy

    Cons

Seen some people got fired because of lack of qualification since the adaptation time given is almost none. Meaning if you don't qualify in your firsts shoots to all of their criteria and demands, you most probably won't have a second chance.

Very little communication with colleagues, as this is a remote job (email only)

I have been working at Airbnb (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly communication, good guidelines of style, fast resolve of technical issues, autonomy to organize the agenda.

    Cons

Same pay for three years, even if I've improved the quality of the photos (better camera and always following the new guidelines). Pay too low for the amount of the work (shooting plus postproduction, learn the guidelines that change every year, immediate availability to resend corrections). They are severe with the deadlines but they don't have a schedule to pay you: so you have to send them the photos within two days from the shooting but they have one month to ask corrections and to pay you. None benefit or compensation. None career opportunities.

    Advice to Management

A couple of clients told me of colleagues of mine that shoot too fast and without care. Usually if the pay is too low the photographer don't like to waste time helping the hosts to prepare and set up the listing: in this way you're losing your friendly image. You should recognize also that we are a sort of Airbnb spokesperson because usually we are the only Airbnb employees that the host meets for real.

    Pros

I've been working for them for about 4 years and I'm still doing. In my opinion they are one of my best customers, a serious company that in the year ensures a good amount of well-paying jobs. They are reliable on payments and very helpful as regards any problems or difficulties to solve.

    Cons

I did not found any relevant cons working with this client.
