I have been working at Airgas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great health benefits, 8-5 m-f overtime not needed

    Cons

Goals are similar to what they were 10 years ago even though the job is completely different than what it used to be. Management has no authority over their people, no one enforces anything, when and how they choose to "discipline" people is very inconsistent. The leaders aren't leaders. There is no encouragement or positivity. Everything is negative from the top down. Most of the work is put on the few people that actually do their job and know how to do it well. That includes managers. They are already busting their tails to get their own crap done but when someone else slacks, they have to help pick up the pieces because there are only a few that actually care enough about their jobs and actually have the competency to know how to fix it....

Culture and environment is lowest of the low. There really isn't much to say about the culture. There really isn't much of one at all. In regards to the environment, It is toxic. The rumors, drama, and negativity is worse than a high school. The more people you talk to the lower your own morale will get. There is zero room for advancement unless you already know people on the outside and have it guaranteed to you.

    Advice to Management

Reward and notice the ones that actually care about and appreciate their job or you'll lose those VERY FEW that are left. They aren't being noticed or appreciated now. At least not in any way that is remotely sincere. Hire people that actually WANT A Job not some kid that has no idea what they are doing that doesn't even want to have a job or career in anything related to this field. They'll be gone in two seconds. This job is simply a place holder for them!

I have been working at Airgas full-time

    Pros

    Benefits, PTO, leaving this place

    Cons

Worst managers, work you like a dog, Multiple HR violations

    Advice to Management

There is no leadership in management what so ever. It's not about your hardwork or being a team player you only get ahead if management wants you to. There is a lot of bribing that happens at the Tampa plant. The manager hires friends so he can have a one up on everyone and get what he wants out of them and play everyone like a puppet. Manager works 3 hours a day if that then leaves to go get drunk on company time and money. Management at this facility is a joke and nothing will ever be done about it. HR gets called on the regular about people and they just get a slap on the wrist. Why work for a company that doesn't respect you and just treats you like a slave with several empty promises. They always want more and more from you but will never give you anything back.

I worked at Airgas full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pay is okay. They really strive to remain competitive with pay in comparison to companies in the same industries, by performing wage evaluations industry wide in the area that particular DC is operating in. It was common to receive an additional .50 per hour minimum about every few years.

The work is relativity simple to perform and easy to keep up with.

    Cons

I hope if you join this company you really enjoy the work you are being hired for. This company does not promote from within. You may be given the opportunity to move laterally around in the company from one department to another, but you will never be given the chance to promote to a department supervisor despite their eagerness to accept your application for possible positions.

You may have issues with individuals and file complaints with management but don't expect them to be resolved effectively.

If you have issues with management don't expect HR to be any help.

This place is a sweat shop.

They don't care about team building and working to common goals.

They offer monthly bonuses but then depend on temp employees, who don't benefit from said bonus, to achieve the level of production requirements in order to receive it.

They are willing to make arrangements for certain employees but not others.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be serious re-evaluations of inner-office policies and procedures in the handling of personnel.

Management needs to be attentive of what is going on between associates and department supervisors, and take complaints more seriously.

Department Supervisors need to be more thoroughly evaluated by management for biased actions and treatment.

Current Employee - Inside Sales/Outside Sales Support/Driver/Whatever the Company Makes Me Do

I have been working at Airgas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Being able to do whatever you want because management is so dumbfounded of the company operations. That's about it...

    Cons

No direction what so ever to be able to operate smoothly at any level of the company. Upper management (directors, senior managers, ect..) play a blame game for just about everything. Middle management (plant/branch managers, ops managers, ect..) are completely clueless how to do their jobs, most of them have very unprofessional attitudes.

    Advice to Management

Quit it with the crap home depot management that is constantly being hired. It may actually be worth it to hire within the company at a bit of a higher pay rate to achieve successful performance outcomes. Management in the middle level are in need of major training and their bosses ( regional managers, abocs) are completely clueless of what operations are actually being performed at the branch level. For instance, it is now 2:00pm, my manager started his day at 8:30am yet decided to roll on out of here at 1:30pm... this is an everyday occurrence and is getting old. His manager has no idea this branch manager is stealing company time and is completely unaware of his useless knowledge for this company when he is actually present.

It's a shame, this company was once decent to work for. Now I'm just counting down the days until I can put in my leave notice. (Hopefully within a couple weeks).

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Recognize talent, pay accordingly. Create an environment where it is not a boiler room setting.
