I have been working at Airgas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well maintained equipment. All PPE supplies. Promote safe work when situations allow. Other wise get the “ “ job done. Bonus system, which is tweaked often. Carrot chase.

    Cons

Outside carriers taking long mileage runs which pay the best. Constant change. Money inconsistent. One day you work 9 hours, the next 14 and dispatch wants more. Benefits are poor to say the least.

    Advice to Management

Work your people as you would like to be worked. Family is important. Work/Life balance is important. A person’s time is important regardless if they are being paid.

    Pros

Fun enthusiastic group of people to work with, different activities going on often.

    Cons

Management is very furtive and unforgiving. they have a group of favorites and that's it. if you don't fit that mold your out.

    Advice to Management

" A bad manager can take a good staff and destroy it, causing the best employees to flee and the remainder to lose all motivation"

I have been working at Airgas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Potential to make good money does exist. Not many more. Lots of good hard working people to with. Most are willing to do things for each other.

    Cons

Lots of management changes. Commitment to sales and service not match by sales expectations. Not much vendor training for products.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Airgas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Steady industry, decent benefits, M-F work week. Paid vacations and holidays.

    Cons

Enormous company with so many small branches, there seems to be a disconnect. Lower wages than I'm used to making. Because no one at the branch level really knows who upper management is, they are always the ones that are "blamed" when we are short product, don't receive wage increases, etc.

    Advice to Management

Bring all of your people together, somehow, someway. Be inclusive of the troops on the ground level that are face to face with customers everyday.

I have been working at Airgas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work hours are good. Home every night without much overtime most of the time. People are fantastic just hard working people that give their all in a physically demanding job.

    Cons

Things vary too much by region and division to the point where no one knows what everyone else is doing. There is no knowledge share, in fact collaboration is highly discouraged outside your region.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging. Allow high performers to perform without holding them back due to your own insecurities.
