    Pros

The company offers average benefits with above average salaries. Compared to other industries, the pay is higher than one would expect.

    Cons

They commend themselves on customer service and communication within the company. The reality is customer service is always secondary. They will communicate with the associates on important matters but the communication lacks pertinent information.

    Advice to Management

It appears their is a lack of respect and trust of the upper management in all divisions. The negative culture among all companies needs to be changed for this company to move forward

    Pros

    Growing company, many job openings

    Cons

Poor Management and very low pay compared to the average salaries for this same type of position in ohio and nationwide. Management not fully aware of what is going on and just trying to get by day to day. You are not treated with respect or given feedback for a job well done.

    Advice to Management

Pay people for what they are worth and stop trying to say money when hiring people to make yourself look good.

I worked at Airgas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really good benefits, including lots of health insurance options. Extensive training, you are constantly taking new training classes. Very generous with catered lunches, office supplies and little perks. Good discounts for employees thru various retailers.

    Cons

The credit department at this place is a joke. The "managers" are so inexperienced that it's painful just to listen to them try to speak about things that should be common knowledge to someone who's entry level. There is no communication in this department unless they are being catty by talking about other people in the department. Professionalism is non-existent, no one knows how to carry themselves in a corporate environment; it all a bunch of poorly dressed, unpolished, under qualified peons trying to micromanage people who have a higher skill set than they could ever hope to have. They set up conference calls to ask you to discuss accounts that you don't even handle, just proving the poor planning on their part. There is no room for growth, you can apply for other positions and you don't even get the common courtesy of an interview. You have "incentives" in this department and if you meet your goal they are supposed to pay you for it, but they don't. Every time you make your goal you have to keep begging for it while they keep telling you, "It will be on your next check," while blaming others in management. This department has had so many employees go to HR that they sent out a survey for the people to rate their superiors. No need to say how that survey went.

    Advice to Management

You should have management applicants take IQ tests and test their knowledge in this field before you promote. Communication is key, if people aren't communicating with each other than everyone is doing double the work. Employees should feel comfortable going to upper management if they are having a problem, there is no open door policy. Paying people the money they are promised in a timely manor would go a long way in boosting morale.

I have been working at Airgas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Airgas use to a great place to work- good benefits- managers cared- not anymore- benefits are mediocre, raises to working employees very poor, only good thing is the schedule
Yes the schedule is Mon-Friday, 7:30 to 4 ish. Hard to find in this type of industry.

    Cons

If you have a degree- know nothing about the product, employees or customer service, Airgas will hire you. Overeducated idiots. No management skills or backing of employees, no knowledge, extremely poor customer service, new inventory system is awful, entire Roseburg, OR store walked out due to horrible system bought "by management" and shoved down employees and customer throats.
Just a dreadful place to work, keep looking, SOMETHING else will come up!

    Advice to Management

Learn your product, get RID of the horrible inventory system. You have hired intelligent well skilled employees. STOP micro managing, get rid of 75% of the waste of salary middle management. District manager, area manager, store manager, micro managed to death. Have sucked the joy of working here 100%

    Pros

Pay & health insurance was good

    Cons

Poor management at this loacation. we went from 40 hrs a week to 32 and was told if we dont like it we could quit and they would find someone else to do the job.Problems with equipment often over looked and ignored making for a bad day. Acting plant manager doesn't have a clue how to run a plant... No clue to what the senior management was thinking when they put Bart in charge

I have been working at Airgas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people I work with are easy to get along with (mostly)

    Cons

It's more about who you know than what you know at this company. The people that actually keep the business going are treated like crap. Right now we are in the midst of a second wage freeze in four years. I understand if the economy is bad and what not but I know that Airgas is a big company that is making millions of dollars every year. If this was a small-business I could understand, but this company treats their employees terribly. People have families, and things to pay for. Not to mention the cost of living keeps going up. Ultimately, companies make decisions that they want to make. So what hurts the most, is when management lies directly to your face.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying, we're not that stupid. Lets get some raises already.

    Pros

    Pay is good and benefits

    Cons

Poor management. Retaliate against workers when raising serious safety concerns. Drivers and public safety is second priority, making sûre loads go is prority whether equipment is safe or not. Maintence of equipment is poor fix or repair only when broken when they décide its convienent. Short staffed working lots of hours no family time.

    Advice to Management

Egotistic managers all the way too top management. Take care of the employées Who care about peoples safety and lives. You can be profitable without risking peoples lives with ignorance and greed.
