I have been working at Airport Concessions Inc. as a contractor

    Pros

I was surprised to find some very negative comments about ACI. As a current employee who has worked for ACI for several years, I would echo the comment that executive management at ACI knows retail operations inside and out, but I would add that they are also some of the most honest, creative and fair people I've met in my career.

    Cons

ACI's vulnerability is also their strength. Executives can be exacting. They're exacting because they're passionate about what they do; what they represent; and their company's family brand. That leaves them open to criticism. Certainly, as with any small business, there will be operational hiccups, but those hiccups must be measured against a 30-year history of dedication to, and reinvestment in, the many communities ACI serves.

    Advice to Management

Keep representing the high quality, operational expertise and creative zeal you always have.

I worked at Airport Concessions Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    There are none. Stay Away.

    Cons

Everything. Stay Away. I made the mistake of being lured in by talk of sunshine and rainbows and all there is is fire and brimstone.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone to operate the business for you.

I worked at Airport Concessions Inc. full-time

    Pros

They do know what they are doing in the retail business. They are good at what they do.

    Cons

There is hostility, negativity, yelling, condescension, no praise. Their is an attitude of looking down at the employees. Your voice is not heard.

    Advice to Management

They need counseling. They need to realize the reason people keep leaving is because of these issues.

I worked at Airport Concessions Inc. part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good co-workers as they are very supportive of one another under Nazi like supervisory surveillance.

    Cons

Nepotism, poor work tools to perform unreasonable demands. Force employees to sign that they are exempt from overtime when legally they are not "exempt" employees. Demeaning and hostile supervisors. Management claims that they listen to employee feedback, but in fact retaliate when an employee makes a statement or suggestion about improving morale.

    Advice to Management

The only reason that the "family run business" has survived this long is because they operate in a "Government Sanctioned" environment as retail outlets with a captive audience at the Airports in which they have shops.

Working in the airport where you can meet new people.
DIA is a very nice airport.

    Cons

Full of neopotism, owners of buisness never graduated highschool and yet they feel like they can operate a buisness, the word gratitude is not in thier vocabulay, the CEO of the company looks like crap, the VP looks like crap, all upper positions are family, you are overworked and underpayed, they expect you to kiss thier a** 7 days a week and 365 days a year. You constantly feel scared you will lose your job the next day. It is a very hostile work enviroment where company morale is extremely low. There is an incredibly high turnover rate. It is amazing to think that this company has been in buissness for the last 20 years. I am pretty certain that the state of the economy will crush this company and it will have to fold.

    Advice to Management

Hire somebody educated in buisness management and organizational communication to run the company, turn over the keys, and walk away.
