I have been working at Akamai (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people at Akamai are top-notch, and it is some to some amazing technology that simply doesn't exist anywhere else.

    Cons

If you're expecting silicon valley amenities like on-site food, gym, etc, you may be disappointed. However, they are working on that, having recently introduced things like popup restaurants in the main building (Cambridge)

I worked at Akamai as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a great company. Everyone is smart and friendly. Akamai highly values interns and co-ops. It is possible to have a return offer here if you are the right fit. For this position, everyone in the team is nice and helping each other. Lastly, competitive benefits.

    Cons

There is not much downside thing I can think of. The team I worked is a very small team, sometimes tasks are the same day to day, but you still have the chance to experience few big projects.

    Advice to Management

I think Akamai already did very well on managing intern and co-op programs! It is a great opportunity for students!

    Pros

Fast-paced environment with an energy level that is contagious. I have never worked with so many smart and talented individuals who are always willing to help each other out.
The company demands a lot from its employees, but in return it makes a concerted effort to compensate them well, hear their feedback and make Akamai a great place to work.

    Cons

Like many high-growth companies, Akamai has its share of growing pains, particularly in the areas of processes, systems and communication. The company acknowledges them and has made a point of prioritizing the areas which need to be addressed in order for the company to continue to scale.

    Advice to Management

Employees have been key to Akamai's success and will continue to be so in the future. Akamai's employees are willing to give 110% (and frequently do), so in my opinion it is critical that management continues to keep their thumb on the pulse and act on employee feedback.
