I worked at Alamo Rent A Car full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, opportunity for overtime, excellent benefits for the whole family.

    Cons

Management is young, inexperienced at dealing with difficult customers/situations. So employees are left to deal these situations. There is A LOT of gossip, including manager's. Reminds me of highschool.

    Advice to Management

Actually promote within. Don't underestimate the value of your employees, especially graveyard.

I have been working at Alamo Rent A Car as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most projects are simple enough to be done in spare time and project-based pay is way better than hourly.

    Cons

Not a full time work type place. Founder gets gigs and calls me and other devs when it aligns with our expertise. Would like more opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Build out Alamo into a full time dev shop!

I worked at Alamo Rent A Car full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place for anyone to work at; potential to make lots of money especially in the busy seasons. Employee benefits are great as well as far as discounts go. Huge focus on customer satisfaction, ethical selling.
Unique commission tier structure makes earning your money and keep your money easier. Maximum commission payout in it's industry.

    Cons

High Volume in some locations with limited fleet availability; making it virtually impossible to upsale into cars, resulting in lower sales. Late/delayed flights.

I worked at Alamo Rent A Car full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I experienced group cooperation between co-workers and supervisory staff members during the time I worked for this company. They, the company, had a very thorough training pro-
gram, from which I learned a great deal about the rental car business.

    Cons

Did not experience any negativity during my tenure at Alamo. I found their rules, regulations and work policies were very fair and respected and accepted, in my opniion, by the other em-
    ployees.

    Advice to Management

Since it has been a while since I have worked there, I believe they must be doing the pro-
per things in order to remain in business.

    Pros

Excellent Pay and Benefits Package. The company is owned by Enterprise Holdings, which owns Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Rent-A-Car, and Alamo Rent-A-Car. I work at an Airport location which is very dependent on tourism. The summer season is spectacular for payout, and the winter season, though slower, is still much better than similar jobs.

    Cons

As a rental agent at Alamo or National, advancement opportunities are a little tricky. Management positions are filled by Enterprise employees. In order to be promoted from a Rental Agent, one would have to become an Enterprise Management Trainee, (which is essentially a rental agent) and then work through promotions on that side of the company. That aside, there are no real problems with this company.
