I have been working at Alaska Airlines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent work-life balance; flexible schedule-flexibility gets better over time with seniority; paid to fly around taking care of people and getting them where they want to go safely; benefits are outstanding

    Cons

Lonely nights in hotels; first few years on reserve/standby can be challenging, although totally worth it; working all major holidays the first few years most likely

    Alaska Airlines Response

    January 29, 2020

Thank you so much for sharing your insights. Being a flight attendant sounds fun to a lot of people but it does have its challenges. And it looks like you made it work! It's that kind of positive attitude that is creating an airline people love. So glad to have you on the team. --David

I worked at Alaska Airlines full-time for less than a year

    Pros

GREAT benefits (free flights). 30 day training to become a phone guru, they sometimes provide food on-site, it's a work from home position, easy shift trades, great company that cares, offer double time and a half for some holidays.

    Cons

sometimes long hours, mandatory OT, customers who are really irritable, previous agents that mess up a record and you have to fix it, work life balance sucks sometimes, flights are always full (hard to use benefits sometimes), on the phone all day, if you live in AZ its hard to use your benefits because you need to go to SFO/PDX/SEA first usually then head to your destination, wait till you can use ID90 in 6 months.

I worked at Alaska Airlines full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Company culture, company reputation, company values, loyal long term employees, and flight benefits.

    Cons

Work/life balance is not great in many of the managerial positions. Some of the newer upper level managers do not possess the traditional values the company has always been known for.
