I have been working at Alaska USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible work schedule
    Advancement opportunity
    Top of industry pay
Easy product to sell (best rates)
    Branch morale events
    Incredible medical benefits
    Monthly and quarterly bonuses
    PTO and Bankable holidays

    Cons

    Open 7 days a week
    Potential split days off
A good amount of products to be educated on
Cross-selling products can feel like a sales job

    Advice to Management

Keep steady in your commitment to service! Continue to support branch staff and celebrate the wins, but don't settle for mediocrity. Use better contest incentives and run more regional contests to get better performances

    Pros

Members are given great service from the employees. I decided to join them and found how encouraged we are to be the experts in our field to help our members grow financially with us as we ourselves grow and add more services and benefits.

    Cons

Not really a huge con. Mostly just that you have such a large learning curve, but they take that on and walk you through every step to get you as knowledgeable as you need to be.

I worked at Alaska USA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Thorough 6 week training, both textbook and hands on. Once you're released, they leave you alone for the most part.

    Cons

Crappy hours. The only choice they give you is to either work Tuesday through Saturday 9:30-6:30 or Sunday through Thursday 1pm-10pm. They harp at you if you're even a minute late clocking in. I was once made to sign a tardee slip for clocking in mere minutes late. Pay could be better. Benefits take forever to kick in.

    Advice to Management

It shouldn't matter if someone takes a break for 16 minutes instead of 15. Truthfully, no one is trying to take advantage of you. People just have lives outside of work and things they need to attend to on their break or lunch hour.

I have been working at Alaska USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

AlaskaUSA is a company that gears itself towards convenience for its members, so customers clientele is really based on the human connection. Paid time off accrues at a very fast past. Managers immediately get FSRs on the right track towards a promotion.

    Cons

Because AlaskaUSA’s primary focus is convenience for its members, it is open 7 days a week, and opened extended hours, and most major holidays. The only guaranteed days off are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. It is not family friendly in its hours of operation, and because of that, turn over is high. PTO and Sick time are one in the same, so it can deplete as fast as it is accrued. I am also a loan officer, Senior teller, and service representative, but I’m only paid a teller wage.

    Pros

The company has an amazing atmosphere and provides internal growth opportunities, and has a competitive salary plan with increases every year.

    Cons

The hours of operations for most departments have been expanded to meet the demand of the 24/7 culture. No other cons that you don't have at every work place.

Guaranteed 40 hours a week with the ability to promote quickly and allow you to showcase your abilities with more 1 on 1 opportunities than the average workplace

On occasion, you have the unreasonable member who, no matter what you do, will still be unhappy. But, it provides the opportunity to do your best to help them.
