    Pros

Office employees ability to work from home and make your own hours.

    Cons

There are terrible accommodations for working parents. HR can't ever see the bigger benefit of being accommodating. They wonder why overall moral is low. Treat employees well and know when to be accommodating, and employees will be happier.

    Advice to Management

They need to see that taking care of your employees means they will do a better job.

I worked at Albany International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and flexible work-from-home options.

    Cons

No formal written purchasing policy and procedures to follow. Poor initial procedural training by toxic sabotaging coworker. Little to no use of an E.R.P. system or how to provide buyers with necessary basic SAP software reports. Zero disclosure about previous progress/actions/information to assigned projects.

    Advice to Management

It's never too late to hire a Logistics Mngr who knows how a Purchasing dept should be run.

I worked at Albany International full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company is willing to invest in newer technologies in goal of being the industry leader. For the most part, the products and their quality remain the best in the industry.

    Cons

Company has gone from being a family owned, family oriented company who considered employees their greatest asset to one focused on costs. Joe Marone, current CEO, was the first to fill the position from outside the industry or company (former college president) and that changed the entire culture. His lack of practical real world work experience, arrogance and aristocratic attitude has alienated many if not most employees.

As mentioned in other ratings above, the top management cronies are/were all inexperienced and friends of Mr. Marone who had no management skills whatsoever. The company shifted from valuing their employees to valuing their stockholders and senior management bonuses.

I spent 25 years there - the first 20 were wonderful and I found this to be one of the best companies to work for anywhere. Friends and colleagues who are still there say each day is pure misery now.

    Advice to Management

The board of directors needs to clean out the executive offices and put qualified people in those positions. The current executive administration will eventually lead to the demise of this once great 100+ year old company.

I worked at Albany International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Stayed on top of raises. Best supervisor ever he did the same work as as his subordinates he understood his workers better than anyone else always willing to get his hands dirty to help out.

    Cons

Never ending amounts of mandatory overtime. Kept increasing unrealistic production #'s without increasing workers or equipment necessary to do production on. Upper management heartless robots who only want to see numbers force you to come in every weekend while he ( shall not be named) plays golf every weekend but never contributes or even comes in to see how his disheartened workers . so many people reached out to him if conditions did not get better they would be forced to leave . So many ended up walking out or quitting.

    Advice to Management

Get a manager who has done the dirty work who knows what its like to be in his employees shoes. Not some guy who has business management degree that likes to intimidate his works by puffing out his chest all the time.
