I worked at Alberta Blue Cross full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    My fellow employees were friendly.

    Cons

There isn't any room for growth which is not what they tell you when you are hired. It depends on the team but a lot of managers have limited and poor skills in leading a team. The salary is also under industry standard. There is a lot of turnover.

    Advice to Management

You need to start treating your employees with more respect and giving them more opportunity grow in the company.

I worked at Alberta Blue Cross full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent position for entry level applicants, good continuing education program.

    Cons

Work and projects are not thought out properly, work environment is stressful (workload and drama/negativity within the department), they ask you to be proficient in all types of media (web design, web development, graphic design, video production, etc) while still paying you as an entry level web designer, lack of opportunities to move up within the company, salary not really competitive or consistent within coworkers with same job title.

    Advice to Management

Change the culture within the department.

I have been working at Alberta Blue Cross full-time

    Pros

Work-life balance is a huge plus, but it does depend on your manager and your department - I would recommend mentioning this aspect in your job interview.
    Great health and dental benefits.
Lots of intangible benefits of working at ABC.
The people who work here are awesome: super friendly and welcoming.
Lower stress levels than other positions I have worked in with other organizations.
Have increased their focus on wellness with a small on-site fitness facility (Edmonton location).
    Very active in the community.

    Cons

You could find other employers who will pay you more, but you will not have the flexibility to take time off and have higher stress.

    Advice to Management

To be more competitive in the labour marketplace, increase salaries to help retain valued employees and to entice talent into the organization.

I have been working at Alberta Blue Cross (More than a year)

    Pros

Training, Professional development, Work and life balance

    Cons

Underpaid Salary, negotiated at least twice since last year - denied on petty grounds. SA3 salary ranges up to 20K; being paid at entry level meaning not even up by a dollar.

Professional Certifications, Experience thrown out of the window.

    Advice to Management
