I have been working at Alberta Health Services full-time

    Pros

Great place to build experience, fairly nice people to meet and work with. steady work and always busy. Huge environment with large scale critical thinking projects. High expectation and strive to perfection in planning work.

    Cons

No organization culture. Very political environment which makes decision making very slow. Bullying challenge ( at least in my prospective but I can't generalize) mostly from diversified staff especially new Canada comers cultivating poor work ethics (rumors , gossips, double-faces). 95% of the work spent on planing and not doing the actual work. If a road block caused by a tree, planning can take three years, then moving the tree off the road is done only in 10 minutes. Things could done much way better.

    Advice to Management

Please consider hear out deep-insiders, may be a two-way performance appraisals, Manager-Employee and Employee-Manager.

    Pros

Alberta Health Services provides a work environment that supports an excellent balance between work life and home life.
Intelligent, passionate leaders with progressive ideas to ensure care delivery will be sustainable.

    Cons

Alberta Health Services is a large organization, with that comes slow-moving change and transformation. Addressing the complex interconnections of this massive system and can lead to the inability to see the whole picture and the challenges of solving a problem or creating change and the effects that has on other parts of the system.

    - take action
    - Accept failure and encourage it
    - start small and learn
