I have been working at Alberta Motor Association full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, especially pension, rare and hard to find. People are great to work with.

    Cons

Boss was cheap, paid me way less than the other person doing the same job. Had all sorts of excuse citing education, totally BS. No internal or external equity at all

    Advice to Management

Probably get your heads out of the sands and listen to what your people are saying and telling you. They are the closest thing to your customers. Implementing cloud 9 policies and from your desk is not going to work.
    Reduce your churn of employees,

I have been working at Alberta Motor Association full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Ground floor people are good to work with. Managers try to work with the poor upper level decisions to make day-to-day interactions with clients more tolerable.

    Cons

Insurance is losing a LOT of existing and new business due to a number of co-occuring problems and poor decisions.

    Advice to Management

Pretending to listen to your employees does not count, but it's entertaining that you think it's effective.

    Pros

Benefits and slack environment that allows employees who couldn't get a job anywhere to thrive.

    Cons

Check the media, how could a multi million dollar fraud be perpetrated against once was once know as a financially sound, fiscally responsible organization?

    Advice to Management

Retire the president, fire the VP that dropped the ball on the fraud. New SIU investigator hired to catch the perp? What a coincidence...

    Pros

    Flex credits. 3 weeks vacation

    Cons

    Terrible wages
    Toxic atmosphere
Way to many supervisors (1 for every 3 employees)
Favoritism runs rampant in all departments
Promise of wage increases and not following through
Most of the staff on the first floor are gossipers and have no idea to act in a professional atmosphere
Offer overtime and and when worked they don't pay out but offer time accrual which is impossible to take if you're not a favorite.

    Advice to Management

Communication is key. Listen to your employees.
