Pros
Good pay when you reach journeyman which could take less than a year. Flexible schedule if it works out with your team. Union. Paid weekly. Health insurance was pretty low compared to other jobs I've had. Easy work.
Cons
Like most grocery stores they do not shut down ever, so expect to work some holidays. It's rare but it does happen when the volume is slow, they will start to ask employees to work less to meet goals.

Pros
• Very straight forward job requirements • Low Expectations overall • Job itself is not exceptionally difficult (though people can be) • Humorous/interesting interactions with customers on occasion • 10% employee discount on store brand items, 5% on everything else • Labor Union representation (be warned however they are mostly a union in name only, the do collectively negotiate for what are effectively "symbolic" raises but amount to very little and they aren't much help for anything else. Looking at you Tom Rodgers.... •Flexability. They will work around your schedule with you and give you hours that work for you most of the time.
Cons
• Lackluster and ineffective in-store management • Toxic company culture (abuse of employees is commonplace (mental and physical on occasion) and many perceived to different in some way are frequently targeted by management at many times bordering or crossing the line into title 6 discrimination) • Health Violations (This place was crawling with rats and was shut down by the Virginia department of health on multiple occasions during my 18 months employment there, not to mention food would be left to rot on cases and in carts in the back) and produce management refused to rotate produce out and insisted on selling it presumably to make their dept numbers/volume look better within the store. • No actual breaks for part timers • Lazy people everywhere • Theft

Pros
Hours are flexible. Management will happily change your hours if you’re a student. Staff typically looks out for each other when it comes to fill-ins.
Cons
I’ve been “training” to be the Assistant Front End Manager for nearly a year now and they haven’t even gotten me an interview, even though I currently have some of my shifts scheduled as front end manager. Not even assistant, but just the actual manager of the front end. I also do all of the hiring duties. Yet, I’m still getting paid the same amount of money as everyone else. Also, multiple coworkers had put in a sexual harassment complaint against one specific customer, but management did nothing about it. Also, one of the managers uses slurs daily, both the r-slur, as well as the n-word (hard R, and she is white). I feel like the company as a whole couldn’t care less about their employees. It makes it worse that this is a minimum wage job. I would be fine with a minimum wage, if it weren’t for all of the issues that came with working here. I definitely don’t recommend working at any of the Albertsons company stores, or at least not at Safeway. And, I’m not even going to go into detail about the deli department. Let’s just say that every new candidate that I hire for Deli, genuinely does not last a week.

Cons
Some departments have toxic leadership and awful communication

Pros
People are great. Work/life balance, at least on the support (non-retail facing) side isn't too difficult to maintain. They are making great strides in developing digital tools and processes to improve decision making.
Cons
Question about future of company since it's in the process of being sold to Kroger. If it's not sold to Kroger, it will likely be split up and sold to another company.

Pros
-Coworkers will make or break your experience, but everyone tends to get along since we all suffer together! -Easy work, you will stay productive depending on department - lots of social interaction (if you like to be social!) - employee discount (5% for other brands, 10% for store brands)
Cons
-Policies for Drive Up&Go department were weird and contradictory, would ask employees to ignore what customer wants for the sake of good metrics. This resulted in customers yelling at us over the phone and in person for getting substitutions even though they didn’t want any, among other things corporate told us to do. -Pay was not worth the amount of work required at times, and salary was only increased by the amount of hours you work (for me, 600 hours before a 25 cent increase) - They tend to overwork their best workers, and don’t always officially promote people even when they start working at a higher paying position (resulting in people not getting properly paid for the work they do, this would happen to everyone including managers and supervisors) -Upper Management was not always great, often would forget important things and not properly deal with problems. -Hope you get along with your dept manager, because if you don’t your work life will be hell, they will take retribution against you if you do something they don’t like

Hello Everyone, I just went through several interviews with Albertsons for a HRBP role. I did not get selected for the role due to not enough years of experience in Human Resources. In many ways, I’m very glad I did not. The interviewer mentioned to me that the company is going through lots of changes and even with the potential of Kroger merging with Albertsons in the future. Is it a good thing I did not get the role due to all of the changes taking shape, which often means layoffs?
I agree with your perspective as mergers are never easy, especially for HR or HRBP! From what I've seen, after a merger employees are often competing for the same roles and as a result, employee morale is down. That responsibility might be deferred to you as HRBP or managing an extending workload of both companies' employees (and previous HR issues) before the merger. I'd say you're lucky, potential layoffs aside!
Happy Wednesday:) Is your company actively hiring? Please let me know:) (looking for remote, senior program/project manager job) I am a senior program manager with 12 years of experience in different fields -Tech -E-commerce/retail -Finance This past year has been very different for me, I accepted a position with wayfair and after almost a year the massive layoff happened... about about 2 months and almost 300 app, I landed a job with Albertsons companies and 6months later layoffs again!
Check out Maersk. I was just looking yesterday and we had a few open that you would fit perfectly for. It might be under performance team but it's the same company. And I do have to say that it's a pretty amazing company to work for as long as you don't get stuck with the wrong team
