    Pros

Alcoa offers a very relaxed yet professional work environment. They have an excellent benefits package and are quick to recognize hard working individuals. Alcoa Locations are clean and green. Alcoa also actively participates in the surrounding communities whether it is giving out trees for earth day or having a marathon for a local charity.

    Cons

I haven't run into any downsides, while i know that no company is perfect, Alcoa genuinely cares about its employees and that is a rare find.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work hard to lead and develop those working under you to make Alcoa an even better company.

Large company with strong focus on safety, quality, technology, and operational excellence. Ideal opportunities for metallurgical and materials engineers in process, manufacturing, quality, and commercial roles.

I have been working at Alcoa full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people at Alcoa truly care about one another. The company has a good value statement and the culture lives up to it. Work life balance programs, working from home 1 day a week is common. Opportunities to move around globally exists within the company. Great 401K program, $ for $ matching up to 6% plus a 3% kicker for non-pensioned employees.

    Cons

Salaries are on the lower end of competitive and the vacation policy is outdated (ie. 15 years to get 4 weeks).

    Pros

Engineering projects were prepared ahead of time and spanned multiple departments for a full Alcoa experience.

    Cons

There weren't very many cons with this experience. The only issue is that i was not there long enough to see all the projects through.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the intern program. It was a great experience

    Pros

Very safety oriented and committed to quality.

    Cons

Promotion within is difficult because of the "buddy" system. Many that are hired and/or promoted have no secondary education or experience. I know of a few workers with associates and bachelor's degrees that have tried to get positions, only to be passed over for a buddy of management.

    Advice to Management

Take a closer look at the credible resources that are within. Let's eliminate the promotions based on unqualified buddy system. Education reimbursement/education assistance seems to be based on things other than drive and merit.
