I have been working at Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good ppl, good pay and good benefits.

    Cons

Bouncing the O.P.P. from field management duties was a mistake. In thier place are civilian managers with no experience in the field and very little understanding of your job. If you develop a mental health issue you will be dismissed upon returning to work. In Govt. maths it is cheaper to drop someone who is 'damaged' and pay them out than it is to actually help their employees when they are in need. Sad to say... that in this say and age a Govt. Agency has taken this position. Be warned and concerned.

I worked at Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario full-time

    Pros

Decent hours and good benefits. Generally people are nice depending on what area you are in.

    Cons

Management makes decisions without fully understanding the big picture. There is a lack of skills and competency in middle management to upper management. There are some very difficult personalities in Management and they get away with a lot because they know how to talk and take credit for staff's work.

    Advice to Management

Good leadership starts at the top and needs to be coached down.

I have been working at Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This is an excellent to place and retire with a great opportunity for growth. The work life balance is great too.

    Cons

There is too much red tape in getting decisions done faster because this is government and public service. Every decision has to get the blessing of the legal department.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately provincial politics influence a lot of things and decisions around here. Too many red tape in getting decisions done faster because this is government and public service. Every decision has to get the blessing of the legal department.
